Role of novel gyrA mutations in the suppression of the fluoroquinolone resistance genotype of vaccine strain Salmonella Typhimurium vacT (gyrA D87G) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy, 2006
This study was aimed at characterizing the gyrA locus and determining its impact on fluoroquinolone susceptibility, DNA supercoiling degree and growth rate of Salmonella Typhimurium live vaccine strain vacT in comparison with its parent M415. Furthermore, the role of multiple drug resistance efflux in the susceptibility of vacT to fluoroquinolones and ...

Clerocidin selectively modifies the gyrase-DNA gate to induce irreversible and reversible DNA damage [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Clerocidin (CL), a microbial diterpenoid, reacts with DNA via its epoxide group and stimulates DNA cleavage by type II DNA topoisomerases. The molecular basis of CL action is poorly understood.

Droplet Digital PCR-Based Detection and Quantification of GyrA Thr-86-Ile Mutation Based Fluoroquinolone-Resistant Campylobacter jejuni

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
Fluoroquinolone (FQ)-resistant Campylobacter jejuni is a serious problem worldwide that limits effective treatment of infections. The traditional detection method depends on bacterial isolation and MIC testing, or traditional PCR, which is time-consuming

Evaluation of resistance to fluoroquinolones and determination of mutations in gyrA and parC genes in Escherichia coli isolated from raw milk of dairy cows with coliform mastitis in Khorasan Razavi province, Iran [PDF]

open access: yesThe Iranian Journal of Veterinary Science and Technology, 2022
The present study was performed to assess the resistance profile to fluoroquinolone and to determine mutations in gyrA and parC genes of Escherichia coli in bovine coliform mastitis. Fluoroquinolones (norfloxacin (NOR), ciprofloxacin (CIP), enrofloxacin (

Comparison of Resistance Acquisition and Mechanisms in Erwinia amylovora against Agrochemicals Used for Fire Blight Control [PDF]

open access: yesThe Plant Pathology Journal
Agrochemicals containing antibiotics are authorized to manage fire blight that has been occurring in Korea since 2015. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of each antibiotic against Erwinia amylovora, the causal pathogen of fire blight, has ...

Characterization of DNA Gyrase Activity and Elucidation of the Impact of Amino Acid Substitution in GyrA on Fluoroquinolone Resistance in Mycobacterium avium

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2023
Mycobacterium avium, a member of the M. avium complex (MAC), is the major pathogen contributing to nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) infections worldwide. Fluoroquinolones (FQs) are recommended for the treatment of macrolide-resistant MACs.

Identification of antimicrobial resistance determinants in Mycobacterium leprae using SNaPshot technique [PDF]

open access: yesКлиническая микробиология и антимикробная химиотерапия
Objective. The development of a method for identifying frequent genetic determinants of Mycobacterium leprae clinical isolates resistance to three groups of antimicrobial drugs: dapsone, rifampicin and fluoroquinolones using SNaPshot technique ...

Immunogold localization of GyrA and GyrB proteins in Escherichia coli [PDF]

open access: yesMicrobiology, 1994
Immunogold preparations of Escherichia coli, using anti-GyrA and anti-GyrB antibodies to the subunits of DNA gyrase, showed clear labelling with both secondary antibody and protein A-gold conjugates. Both proteins were located mainly in the cytoplasm, with typically less than 10% in the nucleoid.
