Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Failure of long-term memory formation in juvenile snails is determined by acetylation status of histone H3 and can be improved by NaB treatment. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
BACKGROUND: Animals' capacities for different forms of learning do not mature simultaneously during ontogenesis but the molecular mechanisms behind the delayed development of specific types of memory are not fully understood.

The Role of Histone Protein Acetylation in Regulating Endothelial Function

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2021
Endothelial cell (EC), consisting of the innermost cellular layer of all types of vessels, is not only a barrier composer but also performing multiple functions in physiological processes.

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Acetylation of histones and non-histone proteins is not a mere consequence of ongoing transcription

open access: yesNature Communications
In all eukaryotes, acetylation of histone lysine residues correlates with transcription activation. Whether histone acetylation is a cause or consequence of transcription is debated.

Histone acetylation and CREB binding protein are required for neuronal resistance against ischemic injury. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Epigenetic transcriptional regulation by histone acetylation depends on the balance between histone acetyltransferase (HAT) and deacetylase activities (HDAC).

Histone H3 Acetylation Is Involved in Retinoid Acid-Induced Neural Differentiation through Increasing Mitochondrial Function

open access: yesBiomedicines, 2023
Histone acetylation and mitochondrial function contribute importantly to neural differentiation, which is critically associated with neurodevelopmental disorders such as Down Syndrome (DS).

Histone acetylation in drug addiction [PDF]

open access: yesSeminars in Cell & Developmental Biology, 2009
Regulation of chromatin structure through post-translational modifications of histones (e.g., acetylation) has emerged as an important mechanism to translate a variety of environmental stimuli, including drugs of abuse, into specific changes in gene expression.

Epigenetic heterogeneity and plasticity in therapy‐induced tumor states through single‐cell multi‐omics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell multi‐omics reveals epigenetic heterogeneity across therapy‐adaptive tumor states, including quiescent/dormant, drug‐tolerant persister, and EMT‐like phenotypes. By linking regulatory features with state‐associated biomarkers, these approaches inform biomarker‐guided therapeutic strategies for evolving tumors.

The NuA4 acetyltransferase and histone H4 acetylation promote replication recovery after topoisomerase I-poisoning

open access: yesEpigenetics & Chromatin, 2019
Background Histone acetylation plays an important role in DNA replication and repair because replicating chromatin is subject to dynamic changes in its structures. However, its precise mechanism remains elusive.
