Klebsiella species: Taxonomy, hypervirulence and multidrug resistance
Members of the genus Klebsiella have rapidly evolved within the past decade, generating organisms that simultaneously exhibit both multidrug resistance and hypervirulence (MDR-hv) phenotypes; such organisms are associated with severe hospital- and community-acquired infections.

Peculiar purulence: Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae causing pyomyositis [PDF]
This report describes the first confirmed case of isolated pyomyositis caused by a hypervirulent strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae. Pyomyositis is almost universally caused by gram-positive organisms and while the recent emergence of invasive disease due to hypervirulent K.

Whole-Genome Sequencing-Based Characterization of 100 Listeria monocytogenes Isolates Collected from Food Processing Environments over a Four-Year Period [PDF]
Listeria monocytogenes is frequently found in foods and processing facilities, where it can persist, creating concerns for the food industry. Its ability to survive under a wide range of environmental conditions enhances the potential for cross ...

Hypervirulent strains of Clostridium difficile [PDF]
Abstract North America has seen increasing numbers of hospitalised patients and others in nursing homes and the community, with more severe Clostridium difficile associated diarrhoea. This is also described in Northern Europe and surveillance systems are being developed or improved to monitor the situation.

Dominant antimicrobial resistance reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae vary across eco‐geographic settings rather than following a universal pattern. Integrated One Health and global genomic analyses show that lineage structure, integron load, and cross‐niche connectivity shape whether AMR burden accumulates primarily in human or nonhuman compartments ...

Potent monoclonal antibodies against multidrug‐resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae
A novel immunization strategy using a low‐virulence, multidrug‐resistant strain yields synergistic monoclonal antibodies against hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae. These antibodies provide cross‐serotype protection through a dual‐mechanism of pathogen clearance and immunomodulation, offering a promising non‐antibiotic therapeutic for resistant ...
