Virulence factors in carbapenem-resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae [PDF]
Hypervirulence and carbapenem-resistant have emerged as two distinct evolutionary pathotypes of Klebsiella pneumoniae, with both reaching their epidemic success and posing a great threat to public health.

Peculiar purulence: Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae causing pyomyositis
This report describes the first confirmed case of isolated pyomyositis caused by a hypervirulent strain of Klebsiella pneumoniae. Pyomyositis is almost universally caused by gram-positive organisms and while the recent emergence of invasive disease due ...

Clostridium difficile infections (CDI) have emerged as a major cause of healthcare associated disease, and recent epidemiological evidence also suggests an important role in community-acquired diarrhea. This increase is associated with specific types, especially PCR ribotypes 027 and 078, which are sometimes referred to as "hypervirulent".

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae is a highly pathogenic variant of Klebsiella pneumonae, which represents a global public health issue because it is very virulent and spreads easily. The objectives of this study were to assess the predominance of hvKp

Characterization of hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates in Belgium
Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae (hvKp) raised concern worldwide. We studied 22 hvKp clinical invasive isolates referred to the Belgian national reference laboratory between 2014 and 2020. Sixty-four percent of the isolates expressed K2 capsular serotype and belonged to 7 different MLST lineages, while 32% expressed K1 (all belonging to ST23) and ...

Dominant antimicrobial resistance reservoirs in Klebsiella pneumoniae vary across eco‐geographic settings rather than following a universal pattern. Integrated One Health and global genomic analyses show that lineage structure, integron load, and cross‐niche connectivity shape whether AMR burden accumulates primarily in human or nonhuman compartments ...

Hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae
Hypervirulent strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae are associated with abscess formation, commonly hepatic, and metastatic spread, even in healthy patients.

Potent monoclonal antibodies against multidrug‐resistant hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae
A novel immunization strategy using a low‐virulence, multidrug‐resistant strain yields synergistic monoclonal antibodies against hypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae. These antibodies provide cross‐serotype protection through a dual‐mechanism of pathogen clearance and immunomodulation, offering a promising non‐antibiotic therapeutic for resistant ...
