Solvent-Free and Microwave-Assisted Synthesis Enables Formation of Imidazole and Pyrazole Derivatives Through Epoxide Ring Opening [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules
A solvent-free, microwave-assisted approach for the ring-opening reactions of phenyl glycidyl ether with a series of commercially available imidazoles and pyrazoles is described. Microwave irradiation allows reactions to proceed rapidly.

Lower micromolar activity of the antifungal imidazoles on the bacterial-type bifunctional aldehyde/alcohol dehydrogenase (AdhE) in Cryptosporidium parvum and in vitro efficacy against the zoonotic parasite [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal for Parasitology: Drugs and Drug Resistance
Cryptosporidium parvum is a waterborne and foodborne zoonotic protozoan parasite, a causative agent of moderate to severe diarrheal diseases in humans and animals. However, fully effective treatments are unavailable for medical and veterinary uses. There

Synthesis of Functionalized 1H-Imidazoles via Denitrogenative Transformation of 5-Amino-1,2,3-Triazoles [PDF]

open access: yesMolecules
An efficient access to novel 2-substituted 1H-imidazole derivatives was developed based on acid-mediated denitrogenative transformation of 5-amino-1,2,3-triazole derivatives available through dipolar azide−nitrile cycloaddition (DCR).

One-step synthesis of imidazoles from Asmic (anisylsulfanylmethyl isocyanide)

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2021
Substituted imidazoles are readily prepared by condensing the versatile isocyanide Asmic, anisylsulfanylmethylisocyanide, with nitrogenous π-electrophiles.

The Structure of Biologically Active Functionalized Azoles: NMR Spectroscopy and Quantum Chemistry

open access: yesMagnetochemistry, 2022
This review summarizes the data on the stereochemical structure of functionalized azoles (pyrazoles, imidazoles, triazoles, thiazoles, and benzazoles) and related compounds obtained by multipulse and multinuclear 1H, 13C, 15N NMR spectroscopy and quantum

Fruit juices act as biocatalysts in the efficient synthesis of potentially bioactive imidazoles

open access: yesGreen Chemistry Letters and Reviews, 2022
An efficient and eco-friendly itinerary has been carried out for the synthesis of imidazole derivatives (3a–3h) from the reactions between substituted aldehydes (1a–1h), benzil (2a), and ammonium acetate (2b) in Citrus limon L.

Cholinesterase-like organocatalysis by imidazole and imidazole-bearing molecules [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
AbstractOrganocatalysis, which is mostly explored for its new potential industrial applications, also represents a chemical event involved in endogenous processes. In the present study, we provide the first evidence that imidazole and imidazole derivatives have cholinesterase-like properties since they can accelerate the hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine

Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Properties of Magnetic Fe3O4@FU: A Heterogeneous Nanostructured Mesoporous Bio-Based Catalyst for the Synthesis of Imidazole Derivatives

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
In this protocol, Fucoidan (FU), a fucose-rich sulfated polysaccharide extracted from brown algae Fucus vesiculosus was used for in situ preparation of magnetic Fe3O4@FU. Nanoco magnetic properties of Fe3O4@FU were investigated by energy dispersive X-ray
