Imidazoles as Potential Anticancer Agents: An Update on Recent Studies

open access: yesMolecules, 2021
Nitrogen-containing heterocyclic rings are common structural components of marketed drugs. Among these heterocycles, imidazole/fused imidazole rings are present in a wide range of bioactive compounds.

Carbene and photocatalyst-catalyzed decarboxylative radical coupling of carboxylic acids and acyl imidazoles to form ketones

open access: yesNature Communications, 2021
The carbene and photocatalyst co-catalyzed radical coupling of acyl electrophile and a radical precursor is emerging as attractive method for ketone synthesis.

Cholinesterase-like organocatalysis by imidazole and imidazole-bearing molecules [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
AbstractOrganocatalysis, which is mostly explored for its new potential industrial applications, also represents a chemical event involved in endogenous processes. In the present study, we provide the first evidence that imidazole and imidazole derivatives have cholinesterase-like properties since they can accelerate the hydrolysis of acetylthiocholine

Electrochemically Induced Synthesis of Imidazoles from Vinyl Azides and Benzyl Amines

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
An electrochemically induced synthesis of imidazoles from vinyl azides and benzyl amines was developed. A wide range of imidazoles were obtained, with yields of 30 to 64%.

Electric deflection of imidazole dimers and trimers in helium nanodroplets: Dipole moments, structure, and fragmentation [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Physics v.153, 081101 (2020), 2020
Deuterated imidazole (IM) molecules, dimers and trimers formed in liquid helium nanodroplets are studied by the electrostatic beam deflection method. Monitoring the deflection profile of (IM)D+ provides a direct way to establish that it is the primary product of the ionization-induced fragmentation both of (IM)2 and (IM)3.

Raman Scattering Spectra of Boron Imidazolate Frameworks Containing Different Magnetic Ions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
We present a Raman scattering spectroscopic study of boron imidazolate metal-organic frameworks (BIFs) with three different magnetic metal ions and one non-magnetic in a wide frequency range from 25 to 1700 cm$^{-1}$, which covers local vibrations of the linkers and well as collective lattice vibrations. We show that the spectral region above 800 cm$^{-

Characterizing and contrasting structural proton transport mechanisms in azole hydrogen bond networks using ab initio molecular dynamics [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Phys. Chem. Lett. 2021, 12, 36, 8749-8756, 2021
Imidazole and 1,2,3-triazole are promising hydrogen-bonded heterocycles that conduct protons via a structural mechanism and whose derivatives are present in systems ranging from biological proton channels to proton exchange membrane fuel cells. Here, we leverage multiple time-stepping to perform ab initio molecular dynamics of imidazole and 1,2,3 ...

The Reaction of Aminonitriles with Aminothiols: A Way to Thiol-Containing Peptides and Nitrogen Heterocycles in the Primitive Earth Ocean

open access: yesLife, 2018
The Strecker reaction of aldehydes with ammonia and hydrogen cyanide first leads to α-aminonitriles, which are then hydrolyzed to α-amino acids.

Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Properties of Magnetic Fe3O4@FU: A Heterogeneous Nanostructured Mesoporous Bio-Based Catalyst for the Synthesis of Imidazole Derivatives

open access: yesFrontiers in Chemistry, 2020
In this protocol, Fucoidan (FU), a fucose-rich sulfated polysaccharide extracted from brown algae Fucus vesiculosus was used for in situ preparation of magnetic Fe3O4@FU. Nanoco magnetic properties of Fe3O4@FU were investigated by energy dispersive X-ray
