Iminosugars: potential inhibitors of liver glycogen phosphorylase
Bioorganic & Medicinal Chemistry, 2001The first synthesis of the single isomers (3R,4R,5R); (3S,4S,5S): (3R,4R,5S) and (3S,4S,5R) of 5-hydroxymethyl-piperidine-3,4-diol from Arecolin is reported, including the synthesis of a series of N-substituted derivatives of the (3R,4R,5R)-isomer (Isofagomine).

Iminosugar–ferrocene conjugates as potential anticancer agents
Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry, 2012We prepared a series of new iminosugar-ferrocene hybrids displaying potent inhibition of fucosidase (bovine kidney) and inactivation of MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells proliferation at low micromolar concentrations. The synthetic route brought to light an unprecedented isomerisation of a 2-ethanalylpyrrolidine.

Aziridination of Cyclic Nitrones Targeting Constrained Iminosugars
Organic Letters, 2017Rare C-7-substituted aziridinyl iminosugars can be synthesized through a short reaction sequence involving 1,3-cycloaddition of cyclic nitrones with alkynes and a Baldwin rearrangement of isoxazolines into bicyclic 2-acylaziridines. The method is efficient and completely diastereoselective, producing stable aziridinyl iminosugars in high yields.

Current Topics in Medicinal Chemistry, 2003
Cancer metastasis is one of the major challenges in cancer research. Inhibitors of tumor metastasis are rapidly emerging as important new drug candidates for cancer therapy. Tumor metastasis formation occurs via a complex multistage process which involves a crucial step of tumor invasion through the basement membrane.

Iminosugars past, present and future: medicines for tomorrow
Drug Discovery Today, 2011Iminosugars comprise the most attractive class of carbohydrate mimetics reported to date and are ideally positioned to take advantage of our increasing understanding of glycobiology in the search for new medicines. First-generation iminosugar drugs suffered from lack of adequate selectivity, resulting in considerable side-effects in the clinic. Current

[Iminosugars: current and future therapeutic applications].
Annales pharmaceutiques francaises, 2007The replacement of the oxygen-containing ring (pyranose, furanose) of monosaccharides by a nitrogen-containing ring (pyrrolidine, piperidine) leads to a particularly interesting class of glycomimetics: iminosugars. The first synthesis of such a sugar analog by Prof. H.

General strategies for the synthesis of iminosugars and new approaches towards iminosugar libraries
2007This chapter will provide an up-to-date review of synthetic methods for the preparation of iminosugars and related compounds. Iminosugars are still the object of intense synthetic investigations, both for the improvement of the synthetic methods and for the preparation of novel structures. Strategies from both sugars and non-carbohydrate precursors can
