Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...

In Vitro Digestion Patterns of Advanced Glycation End Products and α-Dicarbonyls in Biscuits and the Modulatory Effects of Ferulic Acid and Epicatechin

open access: yesFoods
The dietary intake amount of processing contaminants does not reflect their actual exposure risk due to interactions with the food matrix during gastrointestinal processes, which significantly modulate their bioaccessibility.

A Pentaradial and Bilateral Combined Photoreception System in the Sea Cucumber is Mediated by a Blue Light‐Sensitive R‐Opsin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota detects blue and adjacent wavelengths of light via an r‐opsin with a maximum absorption at 459 nm. In the oral tentacles, papillae, and tube feet, distinct light‐sensing structures with specialized morphologies are formed, constituting a unique pentaradial and bilateral combined photoreception system.

Identification of β-casomorphins 3 to 7 in cheeses and in their in vitro gastrointestinal digestates

open access: yesLWT - Food Science and Technology, 2015
Abstract The occurrence of the bovine β-casein-derived casomorphins YPF (f60–62, BCM3), YPFP (f60–63, BCM4), YPFPG (f60–64, BCM5), YPFPGP (f60–65, BCM6) and YPFPGPI (f60–66, BCM7) was investigated in different cheeses by Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography/High-Resolution Mass Spectrometry (UPLC/HR-MS).

Chitosan-modified liposomes for improved oral delivery of dihydromyricetin: synergistic stabilization, pH-responsive release, and markedly enhanced bioaccessibility

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
In this study, chitosan-modified dihydromyricetin liposomes (CHI-DMY-Lips) were developed via electrostatic adsorption to overcome the low bioavailability of dihydromyricetin (DMY).

Selenium Nanoparticles Selectively Target KRAS G13D to Inhibit Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The mechanisms of SeNPs therapy in cancer treatment, encompass three parallel actions: (1) seleno‐amino acids, key metabolites, upregulate GPX2 expression, thereby inhibiting tumor metastasis via the GPX2‐HIF1α‐VEGF signaling pathway; (2) selenite (SeO32−), an inorganic metabolite, forms hydrogen bonds with amino acid residues 13–17 of the KRAS G13D ...

Gut Microbial Release of Ferulic Acid From Germinated Quinoa Alleviates Obesity‐Associated Cognitive Impairment by Activating Hippocampal Mitophagy Associated with PINK1/Parkin Pathway

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Liberation of ferulic acid by gut microbial feruloyl esterase mediates cognitive enhancement of germinated quinoa (GQF) on obese mice. Ferulic acid enriched in GQF is released by gut microbes Roseburia hominis and R. intestinalis and subsequently mediates the neuroprotective effects of GQF on obesity‐induced cognitive decline by activating hippocampal ...

Sweet potato leaf extract inhibits the simulated in vitro gastrointestinal digestion of native starch [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Several studies have reported the therapeutic use of caffeoylquinic acid (CQA) derivatives in the management of hyperglycemia. This study used a simulated in vitro gastrointestinal digestion model to assess the inhibitory effects of CQA derivatives-rich ...
