ABSTRACT Insulin resistance is the biological phenomenon in which the human body's normal response to the metabolic hormone insulin is compromised. Insulin is a regulator of most of the essential metabolic steps in the body that control energy homoeostasis, so dysregulation leads to multiple diverse human diseases including, most prominently, Type 2 ...

Harnessing invariant natural killer T cells to control pathological inflammation
Invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells are innate T cells that are recognized for their potent immune modulatory functions. Over the last three decades, research in murine models and human observational studies have revealed that iNKT cells can act to ...

Stabilization of cytokine mRNAs in iNKT cells requires the serine-threonine kinase IRE1alpha [PDF]
Activated invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells rapidly produce large amounts of cytokines, but how cytokine mRNAs are induced, stabilized and mobilized following iNKT activation is still unclear.

White adipose tissue undergoes browning under endogenous and exogenous stimuli, primarily regulated by core molecules such as PRDM16 and UCP1. It exhibits a double‐edged sword effect in metabolic diseases and tumors: while mitigating metabolic disease impacts and suppressing early‐stage tumors through nutritional competition, it may accelerate cachexia

NNKTT120, an anti-iNKT cell monoclonal antibody, produces rapid and sustained iNKT cell depletion in adults with sickle cell disease [PDF]
Invariant NKT (iNKT) cells can be activated to stimulate a broad inflammatory response. In murine models of sickle cell disease (SCD), interruption of iNKT cell activity prevents tissue injury from vaso-occlusion. NKTT120 is an anti-iNKT cell monoclonal antibody that has the potential to rapidly and specifically deplete iNKT cells and, potentially ...

α-Lactosylceramide Protects Against iNKT-Mediated Murine Airway Hyperreactivity and Liver Injury Through Competitive Inhibition of Cd1d Binding. [PDF]
Invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells, which are activated by T cell receptor (TCR)-dependent recognition of lipid-based antigens presented by the CD1d molecule, have been shown to participate in the pathogenesis of many diseases, including asthma and ...

MAIT Cells Suppress IgE‐Mediated Asthma via IFNγ‐Dependent B Cell Regulation
In this study, we demonstrate that MAIT cell antagonism during sensitization and challenge with HDM worsens the development of airway hyperreactivity without effects on type 2 or 17 associated cytokine production or lung inflammation. Rather, MAIT cells appear to regulate HDM‐induced asthma through direct inhibition of IgE production.

Peripheral blood iNKT cell activation correlates with liver damage during acute hepatitis C
Invariant NK T (iNKT) cells are implicated in viral clearance; however, their role in hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection remains controversial. Here, iNKT cells were studied during different stages of HCV infection. iNKT cells from patients with acute HCV

Nanotechnology Meets Immunotherapy: Crosstalks Against Cancer
ABSTRACT Background The convergence of nanotechnology and immunotherapy has ushered in a transformative era in cancer treatment, offering new strategies to overcome pharmacokinetic limitations and immune evasion associated with conventional therapies. While immunotherapy, spanning checkpoint inhibitors, adoptive cell transfer, and cancer vaccines, has ...

Homeostatic regulation of marginal zone B cells by invariant natural killer T cells. [PDF]
Marginal zone B cells (MZB) mount a rapid antibody response, potently activate naïve T cells, and are enriched in autoreactive B cells. MZBs express high levels of CD1d, the restriction element for invariant natural killer T cells (iNKT).
