Tissue-specific shaping of the TCR repertoire and antigen specificity of iNKT cells
Tissue homeostasis is critically dependent on the function of tissue-resident lymphocytes, including lipid-reactive invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells.

Homeostatic regulation of marginal zone B cells by invariant natural killer T cells. [PDF]
Marginal zone B cells (MZB) mount a rapid antibody response, potently activate naïve T cells, and are enriched in autoreactive B cells. MZBs express high levels of CD1d, the restriction element for invariant natural killer T cells (iNKT).

Invariant Natural Killer T (iNKT) cells are a small and distinct population of T cells crucial in immunomodulation. After activation by alpha-GalactosylCeramide (αGC), an exogenic glycolipid antigen, iNKT cells can rapidly release cytokines to enhance ...

MAIT Cells Suppress IgE‐Mediated Asthma via IFNγ‐Dependent B Cell Regulation
In this study, we demonstrate that MAIT cell antagonism during sensitization and challenge with HDM worsens the development of airway hyperreactivity without effects on type 2 or 17 associated cytokine production or lung inflammation. Rather, MAIT cells appear to regulate HDM‐induced asthma through direct inhibition of IgE production.

iNKT cells at the interface between innate and adaptive immunity.
iNKT cells recognize lipids presented by CD1d molecules. Upon activation, iNKT cells modulate the function of CD1d-expressing cells, such as APCs and B cells.

Traversing the bench to bedside journey for iNKT cell therapies
Invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells are immune cells that harness properties of both the innate and adaptive immune system and exert multiple functions critical for the control of various diseases.

Innovations in Obesity Treatment: Beyond Adipose Tissue Dysfunction
Obesity drives chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and cancer development through adipocyte dysfunction. Addressing this multisystemic disorder requires integrated strategies beyond diet and exercise, such as thermogenesis activation via menthol or capsinoids and appetite control through GLP‐1/GIP agonists and neuromodulation to ...

Tissue-specific metabolic profile drives iNKT cell function during obesity and liver injury
Summary: Invariant natural killer T (iNKT) cells are a distinct population of lymphocytes characterized by their reactivity to glycolipids presented by CD1d.

Professional Differences in Antigen Presentation to iNKT Cells [PDF]
Invariant natural killer T cells are preactivated lymphocytes that react upon recognition of CD1d-antigen complexes. Accordingly, any type of CD1d-positive cell could behave as antigen-presenting cell (APC). In this issue of Immunity, Arora et al. (2014), report that professional APCs still make the difference.
