Insulin‐regulated aminopeptidase inhibitor‐mediated increases in dendritic spine density are facilitated by glucose uptake [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Ethyl2-acetylamino-7-hydroxy-4-pyridin-3-yl-4H-chromene-3-carboxylate (HFI-419), the benzopyran-based inhibitor of insulin-regulated aminopeptidase (IRAP), has previously been shown to improve spatial working and recognition memory in rodents.

Preclinical advances in antibodies against N‐terminal Aβ4‐x species for Alzheimer's disease and cerebral amyloid angiopathy

open access: yesIbrain, Volume 12, Issue 1, Page 52-64, Spring 2026.
This review provides an update on monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies developed to specifically target amyloid beta (Aβ) truncated species starting at residue phenylalanine 4 (Aβ4‐x) in Alzheimer's disease and cerebral amyloid angiopathy preclinical studies (in vitro and in vivo models).

Insulin-regulated Aminopeptidase Is a Key Regulator of GLUT4 Trafficking by Controlling the Sorting of GLUT4 from Endosomes to Specialized Insulin-regulated Vesicles [PDF]

open access: yesMolecular Biology of the Cell, 2010
Insulin stimulates glucose uptake by regulating translocation of the GLUT4 glucose transporter from intracellular compartments to the plasma membrane. In the absence of insulin GLUT4 is actively sequestered away from the general endosomes into GLUT4-specialized compartments, thereby controlling the amount of GLUT4 at the plasma membrane.

Reduced Dietary Protein Induces Changes in the Dental Proteome

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part B: Molecular and Developmental Evolution, Volume 346, Issue 2, Page 107-127, March 2026.
Low dietary protein (10%) from normal (20%) does change protein expression in tooth proteome and alter developmental pathways. Among the significant protein expressions changes are actin‐based myosins, tooth, and bone development proteins. Perplexingly tooth size is not altered, suggesting more nuanced phenotypic response to low dietary protein in ...

Synthesis, Evaluation and Proposed Binding Pose of Substituted Spiro‐Oxindole Dihydroquinazolinones as IRAP Inhibitors

open access: yesChemistryOpen, 2020
Insulin‐regulated aminopeptidase (IRAP) is a new potential macromolecular target for drugs aimed for treatment of cognitive disorders. Inhibition of IRAP by angiotensin IV (Ang IV) improves the memory and learning in rats.

Discovery of Lomitapide as a Novel Mast Cell Regulatory Agent Through Chemical Library Screening

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 2, February 2026.
Chemical library screening identified lomitapide as a novel mast cell (MC) regulatory agent. Lomitapide selectively inhibits IgE/Ag‐ or phorbol 12‐myristate 13‐acetate (PMA)/ionomycin‐mediated MC degranulation by altering plasma membrane dynamics, including endocytosis and membrane fusion. ABSTRACT Allergic diseases are a global health concern, and new

iCARDIO Alliance Global Implementation Guidelines for the Management of Obesity 2025

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT There are a number of guidelines on how to manage obesity, but inconsistencies in healthcare access, varying infrastructure, resource constraints and diverse local practices restrict their global applicability. This underscores the need for universal recommendations that address the unique challenges faced by patients and healthcare providers ...

Deletion of insulin-regulated aminopeptidase in mice decreases susceptibility to pentylenetetrazol-induced generalized seizures

open access: yes, 2011
The peptide angiotensin IV (Ang IV) influences seizure susceptibility in rat and mouse models. Indeed, Ang IV has been shown to protect rats from limbic seizures in the focal pilocarpine model.

IRAP Endosomes Control Phagosomal Maturation in Dendritic Cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2020
Dendritic cells (DCs) contribute to the immune surveillance by sampling their environment through phagocytosis and endocytosis. We have previously reported that, rapidly following uptake of extracellular antigen into phagosomes or endosomes in DCs, a ...

Identification of Potential Therapeutic Agents for Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis Using Text Mining and Bioinformatics Analyses

open access: yesAnalytical Cellular Pathology, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Naegleria fowleri, the brain‐eating ameba, causes primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM), a fatal infectious disease that affects the central nervous system (CNS). We aimed to evaluate the functions and potential drugs targeting PAM using text mining and bioinformatics analyses.
