Interactional competence in a paired speaking test : features salient to raters

open access: yes, 2011
Paired speaking tests are now commonly used in both high-stakes testing and classroom assessment contexts. The co-construction of discourse by candidates is regarded as a strength of paired speaking tests, as candidates have the opportunity to display a ...

Interactional competence in L2 learning : Is it taught or activated? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
It has long been understood that learning a foreign/second language involves much more than simply acquiring vocabulary and grammar to a certain level.

Development of L2 interactional resource in pragmatics instruction: Use of Japanese interactional particle ne in assessment activity

open access: yesJapanese Language and Literature
The present study examined the development of interactional competence (IC) by JFL learners in an explicitly instructed setting, focusing on their use of a Japanese interactional particle ne in spontaneous conversation with NS classroom guests.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Local Contingencies in L2 Tasks: A Comparison of Context-Sensitive Interactional Achievements across Two Different Task Types

open access: yesBellaterra Journal of Teaching & Learning Language & Literature, 2017
Recent research on L2 interaction and interactional competencies shows that L2 learners deploy a great diversity of interactional resources and adapt their talk to context-sensitive differences in various institutional settings.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
