Dynamic mechanical and dielectric relaxations in poly(dibenzyl itaconate) and poly(diethylphenyl itaconate)

open access: yes, 2000
Dynamic mechanical and dielectric behaviour of poly(dibenzyl itaconate), and poly(diethylphenyl itaconate) were studied. The study was performed by determining the components of the complex relaxation modulus E* and the complex dielectric permittivity ...

Radical polymerization of monoethyl itaconate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The radical polymerization of monoethyl itaconate (MEI) was investigated in bulk and in solution at 60°C using a,a'-azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator.

The secondary metabolite itaconate mediates plant development and response to environmental stress [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
In previous studies, we imaged chemical gradients of small molecules along the developmental axis of maize roots and revealed citric acid cycle (CAC) metabolites to have new roles in root development.

Metabolite itaconate in host immunoregulation and defense

open access: yesCellular & Molecular Biology Letters, 2023
Metabolic states greatly influence functioning and differentiation of immune cells. Regulating the metabolism of immune cells can effectively modulate the host immune response.

Autoimmunity: Molecular Mechanisms, Biomarkers, and Therapeutic Opportunities. [PDF]

open access: yesMedComm (2020)
Major types of immunometabolism, epigenetics, posttranscriptional regulation, and functional reprogramming involved in autoimmune diseases. The roles of immunometabolism, epigenetics, posttranscriptional regulation, and functional reprogramming in autoimmune diseases have been a major research focus in recent years.

Unsaturated biobased polyesters from bicyclic α‐pinene‐based diols

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
We present the synthesis of four biosourced unsaturated polyesters made from chiral terpene‐based diols and esters of renewable diacids. The resulting materials harbor a bicyclic pinene ring in their backbones which leads to enhanced thermal properties while still conferring susceptibility to enzyme hydrolysis for chains having a cis alkene.

A genetically encoded fluorescent biosensor for detecting itaconate with subcellular resolution in living macrophages

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Itaconate has been identified as an immunomodulatory metabolite produced by activated macrophages, but methods for detecting itaconate in live cells are lacking.

Renewable methacrylate resin for vat photopolymerization derived from post‐consumer polyester waste

open access: yesPolymer International, EarlyView.
End‐of‐life poly(ethylene terephthalate) was upcycled into a renewable methacrylate crosslinker using microwave‐assisted methacrylation and applied in vat photopolymerization. The recycled resin enabled high‐resolution 3D printing with tunable mechanical performance, highlighting a circular strategy to reduce fossil‐based photopolymer feedstocks ...

Synthesis of Poly(Itaconate)s With High Monomer Conversion Applying Emulsion Polymerization

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 6, Page 1284-1296, 15 March 2025.
Itaconic acid and its derivatives are a promising and bio‐based substitute for oil‐based polymers such as acrylates. In this study, the optimization of polymerization of itaconic acid esters is described by applying emulsion polymerization leading to high reaction conversions and low residual monomer contents. ABSTRACT Itaconic acid and its derivatives

Sustainable Utilization and Fire Protection of Wood‐Based Composites in Buildings: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The increasing use of wood and wood‐based composites in construction reflects a global shift toward renewable materials that support sustainable development objectives, including carbon reduction and responsible resource use. While wood offers substantial environmental benefits compared to conventional materials such as concrete and steel, its
