Gastrointestinal carriage is a major reservoir of K. pneumoniae infection in intensive care patients
Background Klebsiella pneumoniae is an opportunistic pathogen and a leading cause of hospital-associated (HA) infections. Patients in intensive care units (ICUs) are particularly at risk, and outbreaks are frequently reported in ICUs. K.

The emergence of Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) resistance has led to the countdown of activity of carbapenems, which were considered as drugs of last resort for infections caused by Enterobacteriaceae. The aims of the present study were the detection of KPC-production among K.

Tigecycline Resistance Can Occur Independently of the ramA Gene in Klebsiella pneumoniae [PDF]
Tigecycline resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae results from ramA upregulation that causes the overexpression of the efflux pump, AcrAB-TolC. Tigecycline mutants, derived from Ecl8ΔramA, can exhibit a multidrug resistance phenotype due to increased ...

Discovery of H2 Receptor Antagonists as Colistin Enhancers by Targeting Acid Stress Response
This study identifies YqgB as a key target for restoring colistin susceptibility in mcr‐positive pathogens under acidic conditions by remodeling phospholipid composition and reducing LPS modification. Deep learning‐based screening reveals H2 receptor antagonists as novel colistin adjuvants. Further investigations indicate that ranitidine and famotidine

Treatment Outcome of Bacteremia Due to KPC-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae: Superiority of Combination Antimicrobial Regimens [PDF]
Klebsiella pneumoniae producing Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) has been associated with serious infections and high mortality. The optimal antimicrobial therapy for infection due to KPC-producing K. pneumoniae is not well established.

ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

Application of PCR ribotyping and tDNA-PCR for Klebsiella pneumoniae identification
PCR analysis of 16S-23S internal transcribed spacer (PCR ribotyping) and tRNA intergenic spacer (tDNA-PCR) were evaluated for their effectiveness in identification of clinical strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae and differentiation with related species. For
