Molecular analyses define Vα7.2-Jα33+ MAIT cell depletion in HIV infection: a case-control study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells are an abundant antibacterial innate-like lymphocyte population. There are conflicting reports as to their fate in HIV infection.

Activation and Functional Alteration of Mucosal-Associated Invariant T Cells in Adult Patients With Community-Acquired Pneumonia

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) remains the significant infectious cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Although mucosal-associated invariant T cells (MAIT) play roles in the pathogenesis of children CAP and ICU-associated pneumonia, their ...

Immunotherapy in hepatocellular carcinoma: the complex interface between inflammation, fibrosis, and the immune response. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the third leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide and confers a poor prognosis. Beyond standard systemic therapy with multikinase inhibitors, recent studies demonstrate the potential for robust and durable responses ...

Antigen-loaded MR1 tetramers define T cell receptor heterogeneity in mucosal-associated invariant T cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Mucosal-associated invariant T cells (MAIT cells) express a semi-invariant T cell receptor (TCR) alpha-chain, TRAV1-2-TRAJ33, and are activated by vitamin B metabolites bound by the major histocompatibility complex (MHC)-related class I-like molecule ...

Recognition of vitamin B metabolites by mucosal-associated invariant T cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The mucosal-associated invariant T-cell antigen receptor (MAIT TCR) recognizes MR1 presenting vitamin B metabolites. Here we describe the structures of a human MAIT TCR in complex with human MR1 presenting a non-stimulatory ligand derived from folic acid

Cryoablation Activates the cGAS–STING‐CXCL10 Axis in Macrophages to Enhance Anti‐Tumor Immunity in NSCLC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor dsDNA released by cryoablation is taken up by macrophages, activating the cGAS‐STING signaling pathway. This leads to an expansion of the CXCL10+ macrophage pool and increased secretion of CXCL10, which in turn recruits CXCR3+ T cells from draining lymph nodes into the tumor microenvironment to exert anti‐tumor effects.

Hyper-Expression of PD-1 Is Associated with the Levels of Exhausted and Dysfunctional Phenotypes of Circulating CD161++TCR iVα7.2+ Mucosal-Associated Invariant T Cells in Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells, defined as CD161++TCR iVα7.2+ T cells, play an important role in the innate defense against bacterial infections, and their functionality is impaired in chronic viral infections.

An R package to analyse LC/MS metabolomic data: MAIT (Metabolite Automatic Identification Toolkit) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Current tools for liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry for metabolomic data cover a limited number of processing steps, whereas online tools are hard to use in a programmable fashion. This article introduces the Metabolite Automatic Identification

Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing Informs Precision Targeting of Monogenic Lupus Associated With IKZF1 Haploinsufficiency

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to investigate the mechanisms of immune dysregulation in a pediatric patient with monogenic lupus driven by IKZF1 haploinsufficiency. Methods Peripheral immune cells from a patient with IKZF1 haploinsufficiency, patients with lupus with no currently known genetic mutations, and healthy controls were analyzed using single‐cell

Hantaan virus infection induces human mucosal-associated invariant T cell pyroptosis through IRE1α pathway

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Hantaan virus (HTNV) triggers an epidemic of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS), which is predominantly prevalent in Asia. Mucosal-associated invariant T (MAIT) cells, categorized as innate-like T lymphocytes, perform crucial functions in the ...
