A free-energy stable nodal discontinuous Galerkin approximation with summation-by-parts property for the Cahn-Hilliard equation

open access: yes, 2019
We present a nodal Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) scheme for the Cahn-Hilliard equation that satisfies the summation-by-parts simultaneous-approximation-term (SBP-SAT) property.

Tb3+‐Doped Glass‐Ceramic Scintillating Plates and Fibers for X‐Ray Imaging and Flexible Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
A Tb3+‐doped glass‐ceramic scintillator, with controlled Ba2GdF7 nanocrystal precipitation, was developed through a rational design strategy guided by phase diagrams and molecular dynamics simulations. The obtained material exhibits a high light yield of 41 800 photons/MeV (418%/BGO), a spatial resolution of 25.3 lp/mm, and exceptional thermal ...

Pupil Plane Multiplexing for Vectorial Fourier Ptychography

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 9, 6 May 2026.
This study proposes a cost‐effective, modality‐adaptive multichannel microscopy framework using pupil‐plane multiplexing. A custom pupil aperture at the Fourier plane encodes channel‐specific transfer functions with spectral or polarization filters, and model‐based reconstruction with channel‐dependent priors decodes them.

Overall evaluation of Skylab (EREP) images for cartographic application [PDF]

open access: yes
The author has identified the following significant results. The importance of photomap products derived from Skylab type imagery for portrayal of previously unmapped (or poorly mapped) areas is recognized as truly significant.

Complementary reaction analyses and the isospin mixing of the 4- states in 16O

open access: yes, 2005
Data from the inelastic scattering of electrons, and of intermediate energy protons and pions leading to ``stretched'' configuration 4- states near 19 MeV excitation in 16O as well as from charge exchange (p,n) scattering to an isobaric analogue (4 ...

Mid‐Infrared Quantum Scanning Microscopy via Visible Light Beyond Spatial Correlations

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 9, 6 May 2026.
This work introduces a raster‐scanning approach based on quantum imaging with undetected light (QIUL) that probes samples in the mid‐infrared (MIR) spectral range while performing detection in the visible domain. Unlike previous QIUL implementations, this technique operates independently of photon‐pair spatial correlations and relies solely on induced ...

Criteria for selecting the Paganin‐filter reconstruction parameter in X‐ray phase‐contrast tomography

open access: yesJournal of Synchrotron Radiation, Volume 33, Issue 3, Page 746-758, May 2026.
The development of a criterion for near‐optimal selection of the Paganin‐filter parameter based on noise power analysis measured via an image's noise power spectrum is described. The Paganin filter, widely employed in propagation‐based phase‐contrast X‐ray computed tomography with synchrotron light, attenuates phase effects and suppresses high‐frequency

The Flooding Gradient Affects Seed Dispersal by Fruit‐Eating Fishes in Amazonian Whitewater Floodplain Forests

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 3, May 2026.
This research approaches the interaction between frugivorous fish and the flooded forests in the central Amazon. We evaluated the fruit consumption by fish and the seed dispersal potential along the flood gradient. We tested the hypothesis that the role of fish as seed dispersers varies between low várzea (LV) and high várzea (HV) forests.
