A Cross‐Disease Microglial Transcriptional Program Characterizes Neurodegeneration and Highlights SPP1 as a Biomarker

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 6, June 2026.
Distinct microglial subpopulations are depicted, highlighting variations in gene expression and functional roles in response to specific disease conditions and the complexity of microglial activation and differentiation in neurodegeneration. ABSTRACT Microglial cells are key players in maintaining brain homeostasis and responding to pathological ...

The mediating role of shame in the relationship between adolescent hairpulling and co‐occurring anxiety and depressive symptomology

open access: yesJCPP Advances, Volume 6, Issue 2, June 2026.
This study found that shame is a significant mediator in positive associations between hairpulling severity and depression and anxiety severity within a community sample of adolescents with clinical levels of hair‐pulling severity. It also found high levels of trance‐pulling and post‐pulling rituals.

La‐Tuned Scintillators With Nanosecond Response and High Flexibility for Blur‐Free X‐Ray Imaging

open access: yesSmartMat, Volume 7, Issue 3, June 2026.
This work presents a zero‐dimensional Ce (III)‐based hybrid halide scintillator designed for real‐time and flexible X‐ray imaging. La3+ alloying synergistically enhances photoluminescence efficiency while preserving nanosecond‐scale decay. The resulting material exhibits a high light yield and low detection limit.

Parkin mutant in the fly is largely rescued by metal-responsive transcription factor (MTF-1)

open access: yes, 2011
The gene for Parkin, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, is mutated in some familial forms of Parkinson's disease, a severe neurodegenerative disorder. A homozygous mutant of the Drosophila ortholog of human parkin is viable but results in severe motoric impairment including an inability to fly, female and male sterility, and a decreased lifespan.

Mixed‐Dimensional Diammonium Manganese(II) Bromide Hybrid Incorporating 1D Chains and 0D Tetrahedra

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
A mixed‐dimensional organic manganese bromide hybrid is developed that combines one‐dimensional chains and zero‐dimensional tetrahedra within a single crystal. This design enables two distinct light emissions from different manganese sites and reveals both cooperative and independent magnetic behaviors, demonstrating how structural organization can be ...
