Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC): When good intentions go awry
Cellular Immunology, 2021MDSC are a heterogeneous population of immature myeloid cells that are released by biological stress such as tissue damage and inflammation. Conventionally, MDSC are known for their detrimental role in chronic inflammation and neoplastic conditions. However, their intrinsic functions in immunoregulation, wound healing, and angiogenesis are intended to ...

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) in brain cancer: challenges and therapeutic strategies
Inflammopharmacology, 2021The most fatal malignancy of the central nervous system (CNS) is glioblastoma. Brain cancer is a 'cold' tumor because of fewer immunoregulatory cells and more immunosuppressive cells. Due to the cold nature of brain cancers, conventional treatments which are used to manage glioma patients show little effectiveness.

Human myeloid derived suppressor cell (MDSC) subset phenotypes
The Journal of Immunology, 2017Abstract MDSCs are increased in cancer patients and were originally defined based on T-cell suppression and a negative correlation with prognosis and overall survival and a direct correlation with tumor stage. They were originally described, based on CD34 expression and a hematopoietic progenitor phenotype.

Myeloid-derived Suppressor Cells (MDSCs) in Gliomas and Glioma-Development
Immunological Investigations, 2012Myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are a heterogeneous population of cells that inhibit anti-tumor immunity through a variety of mechanisms. Malignant gliomas are heavily infiltrated by myeloid cells, some of which appear to share biological functions of MDSCs.

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC): an important partner in cellular/tissue senescence
Biogerontology, 2018The aging process is associated with a low-grade chronic inflammation and the accumulation of senescent cells into tissues. Diverse stresses can trigger cellular senescence, a cell fate characterized by cell-cycle arrest and flat morphology. Oncogenic signaling can also induce cellular senescence which has been termed oncogene-induced senescence (OIS).

Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells (MDSCs) and the Immunoinflammatory Response to Injury (Mini Review)
Shock, 2021ABSTRACT Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) are a heterogenous population of immature myeloid cells hallmarked by their potent immunosuppressive function in a vast array of pathologic conditions. MDSCs have recently been shown to exhibit marked expansion in acute inflammatory states including traumatic injury, burn, and ...

Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC): Another player in the orchestra
Inmunología, 2011Abstract The simplest and most extended definition of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) refers to them as immature myeloid cells with the ability to downregulate adaptative immune responses, a definition that reflects both their origin and function.

MDSC: Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells
2016Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSC) are a heterogeneous population of immature myeloid cells whose numbers are increased in states of cancer, inflammation, or infection. MDSC are reported to be induced by tumor-produced growth factors in cancer-bearing hosts. Mechanisms of immune suppression by MDSC include production of arginase-1, reactive oxygen
