The damaging effects of neuwiedase, a non-hemorrhagic snake venom metalloproteinase from P-I class, on gastrocnemius muscle are studied herein. Following neuwiedase injection, ultrastructural alterations were detected early showing disarrangement of ...

High electrical performance alone does not guarantee efficient bioelectronic signal transduction. Despite excellent mixed ionic‐electronic conduction, recordings from cardiomyocytes reveal that p(g2T‐TT)‐based OECTs predominantly transduce field potential FP‐like signals due to weak cell‐polymer coupling.

Highly Homologous Filamin Polypeptides Have Different Distributions in Avian Slow and Fast Muscle Fibers [PDF]
The high molecular weight actin-binding protein filamin is located at the periphery of the Z disk in the fast adult chicken pectoral muscle (Gomer, R. H., and E. Lazarides, 1981, Cell, 23: 524-532).

The Calcineurin-FoxO-MuRF1 signaling pathway regulates myofibril integrity in cardiomyocytes. [PDF]
Altered Ca2+ handling is often present in diseased hearts undergoing structural remodeling and functional deterioration. However, whether Ca2+ directly regulates sarcomere structure has remained elusive.

INTRINSIC BIREFRINGENCE OF GLYCERINATED MYOFIBRILS [PDF]
Patterns of intrinsic birefringence were revealed in formalin-fixed, glycerinated myofibrils from rabbit striated muscle, by perfusing them with solvents of refractive index near to that of protein, about 1.570. The patterns differ substantially from those obtained in physiological salt solutions, due to the elimination of edge- and form birefringence.

Dual‐Responsive Yarn‐Based Artificial Muscles for Adaptive Thermal Management
Inspired by the conscious movements of skeletal muscle, a novel hybrid yarn‐based artificial muscle (HYAM) coupling moisture actuation with controllable recovery is developed. This unique design increases actuation stroke by 128% and shortens recovery time by 91%. This unique design enhances the actuation stroke by 128% and reduces the recovery time by

Altered excitation-contraction coupling in human chronic atrial fibrillation [PDF]
This review focuses on the (mal)adaptive processes in atrial excitation-contraction coupling occurring in patients with chronic atrial fibrillation. Cellular remodeling includes shortening of the atrial action potential duration and effective refractory ...

Bioprinted Excitable Tissues with Multistimulation Systems for Promoting Function and Maturation
This review provides an overview of stimulation strategies used to enhance the functional maturation of bioprinted excitable tissues. It addresses key limitations in physiological performance of bioprinted excitable tissues, outlines major stimulation modalities—including electrical, mechanical, optical, magnetic, ultrasound, and hybrid—and examines ...
