Nested PCR Assay for Detection of Granulocytic Ehrlichiae [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Microbiology, 1998
ABSTRACT A sensitive and specific nested PCR assay was developed for the detection of granulocytic ehrlichiae. The assay amplifies the 16S rRNA gene and was used to examine acute-phase EDTA-blood and serum samples obtained from seven humans with clinical presentations compatible with human granulocytic ehrlichiosis.

Tracking of Coetaneous Leishmaniasis by Parasitological, Molecular and Biochemical Analysis

open access: yesKufa Journal for Nursing Sciences, 2015
Background: In areas of endemicity without sufficient laboratory infrastructure, identification of Leishmaniaparasites is useful for control and preventive plan and very important since species differentiation is instrumental in selection of optimal ...

Comparison of nested PCR and real time PCR of Herpesvirus infections of central nervous system in HIV patients

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2004
Background Molecular detection of herpesviruses DNA is considered as the reference standard assay for diagnosis of central nervous system infections. In this study nested PCR and real time PCR techniques for detection of Herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV ...

A comparative study on detection of bartonella henselae infection by culture followed by pcr, nested-pcr and ifa [PDF]

open access: yesKafkas Universitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Dergisi, 2017
Cats are the main reservoirs of zoonotic Bartonella henselae which are the causative agents of Cat Scratch Disease (CSD). The aim of this study is to compare three diagnostic methods including culture followed by PCR from whole blood, nested-PCR from ...

Rapid microarray-based method for monitoring of all currently known single-nucleotide polymorphisms associated with parasite resistance to antimalaria drugs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Parasite drug resistance is partly conferred by single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), and monitoring them has been proposed as an alternative to monitoring drug resistance.

Symbiont diversity is not involved in depth acclimation in the Mediterranean sea whip Eunicella singularis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In symbiotic cnidarians, acclimation to depth and lower irradiance can involve physiological changes in the photosynthetic dinoflagellate endosymbiont, such as increased chlorophyll content, or qualitative modifications in the symbiont population in ...

Development of nested polymerase chain reaction-based diagnosis of duck enteritis virus and detection of DNA polymerase gene from non-descriptive duck breeds of West Bengal, India [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary World, 2017
Aim: The study was undertaken to detect the clinical signs, postmortem lesions of embryonated duck plague (DP) infected eggs, and histopathological changes of chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) in non-descriptive ducks of West Bengal with special reference ...

Avian malaria is absent in juvenile colonial herons (Ardeidae) but not Culex pipiens mosquitoes in the Camargue, Southern France [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Apicomplexan blood parasites Plasmodium and Haemoproteus (together termed “Avian malaria”) and Leucocytozoon are widespread, diverse vector-transmitted blood parasites of birds, and conditions associated with colonial nesting in herons (Ardeidae) and ...

Human papillomavirus detection and typing using a nested-PCR-RFLP assay

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases
BACKGROUND: It is clinically important to detect and type human papillomavirus (HPV) in a sensitive and specific manner. OBJECTIVES: Development of a nested-polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (nested-PCR-RFLP) assay to ...
