Radioimmunoassay of nivalenol in barley [PDF]
Antibodies against nivalenol (NIV) tetraacetate (Tetra-Ac-NIV) were prepared by immunizing rabbits with a hemisuccinate derivative of 8-hydroxy-3,4,7,15-tetraacetyl-12, 13-epoxytrichothece-9-en conjugated to bovine serum albumin. A radioimmunoassay system with one of these sera was developed to measure NIV contamination in barley.

Production and characterization of antibodies against nivalenol tetraacetate [PDF]
Antibody against nivalenol tetraacetate (tetra-Ac-NIV) was prepared by immunization of rabbits with triacetyl-15-pimelate-NIV conjugated to bovine serum albumin. By using tritiated tetra-Ac-NIV as the test ligand, antibody titers were demonstrated as early as 4 weeks after immunization.

Natural occurrence of nivalenol and mycotoxigenic potential of Fusarium graminearum strains in wheat affected by head blight in Argentina [PDF]
The principal agents of Fusarium head blight in the main cropping area of Argentina were investigated in heavily infected samples. The ability of the isolates to produce trichothecenes was determined by GC and HPLC.

Fusarium culmorum is a major pathogen of grain crops. Infected plants accumulate deoxynivalenol (DON), 3-acetyl-deoxynivalenol (3-ADON), or nivalenol (NIV), which are mycotoxins of the trichothecene B group.

Key Global Actions for Mycotoxin Management in Wheat and Other Small Grains
Mycotoxins in small grains are a significant and long-standing problem. These contaminants may be produced by members of several fungal genera, including Alternaria, Aspergillus, Fusarium, Claviceps, and Penicillium.

Ryanodine receptor inhibitor dantrolene alleviates nivalenol-induced cytotoxicity in HL60 cells [PDF]
To elucidate the molecular mechanism underlying the toxicity of the Fusarium mycotoxin nivalenol, we investigated the involvement of ryanodine receptor 1 (RyR1), an intracellular calcium ion channel, in nivalenol-induced cytotoxicity in human ...
