Natural-killer group 2 member D (NKG2D) is a well-characterized activating receptor expressed by natural killer (NK) cells, NKT cells, activated CD8+ T cells, subsets of γδ+ T cells, and innate-like T cells.

Staging concept for aging management: Definition, mechanism, and coping strategies
We divided the overall aging stage into “pre‐aging”, “aging compensation”, and “aging disability”. For each stage, we delineate the clinical presentations, biological phenomena, theoretical underpinnings, and key management priorities. Abstract Aging, as a gradual and largely irreversible biological process, characterized by declining organismal ...

Molecular competition for NKG2D: H60 and RAE1 compete unequally for NKG2D with dominance of H60.
NKG2D is a potent activating receptor on natural killer cells, T cells, and macrophages. Mouse NKG2D interacts with two cell surface ligands related to class I MHC molecules: RAE1 and H60. We used soluble versions of NKG2D, RAE1, and H60 to characterize their interactions.

ABSTRACT Adult T‐cell leukemia/lymphoma (ATL) is an aggressive hematological malignancy with a poor prognosis and limited therapeutic options. ATL cells exhibit aberrant surface glycosylation patterns resulting from dysregulated glycosyltransferase expression, representing a potentially tumor‐specific therapeutic target.

DISTRIBUTION OF MICA ALLELES IN THE RUSSIAN POPULATION
Stress factors, infections, tumor transformation of the cells of organism induce the expression of MICA protein, which is a ligand for the NKG2D receptor of NK and T cells.

Liver‐resident NK cells (CD49a+ NK cells) in rhesus macaques display distinct activating receptor and metabolic markers enhanced phenotype compared with hepatic NK cell subsets (CD49a−) in the liver. These cells exhibit heightened cytokine polyfunctionality with restrained cytotoxic responses upon mitogen stimulation in comparison with CD49a− NK cell ...

High‐dimensional spectral cytometry of peripheral blood mononuclear cells at hospital admission revealed that acute pancreatitis patients who subsequently developed moderately‐to‐severe disease exhibited a specific reduction of circulating CD2 + CD8dim NKT‐like cells, which appear to acquire an altered cytotoxic‐like phenotype upon IL‐15 stimulation ...

Preclinical characterization of Pan-NKG2D ligand-binding NKG2D receptor decoys
NKG2D and its ligands are critical regulators of protective immune responses controlling infections and cancer, defining a crucial immune signaling axis. Current therapeutic efforts targeting this axis almost exclusively aim at enhancing NKG2D-mediated effector functions.

NKG2D-CAR-targeted iPSC-derived MSCs efficiently target solid tumors expressing NKG2D ligand
Summary: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) hold potential in cancer therapy; however, insufficient tumor homing ability and heterogeneity limit their therapeutic benefits.
