Deficiency and dysfunctional roles of natural killer T cells in patients with ARDS
ObjectiveAcute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) presents a global health challenge, characterized by significant morbidity and mortality. However, the role of natural killer T (NKT) cells in human ARDS remains poorly understood. Therefore, this study

Biomedicine One way tumors evade the immune system is by fostering an immunosuppressive environment. Although immune cells such as macrophages are known to contribute to this immunosuppression, whether neutrophils, an immune cell typically associated with inflammation, do too has not been fully explored. De Santo et al.

Research progress on the role of inflammatory mediators in the pathogenesis of epilepsy
In the central nervous system, activated immune cells lead to the overproduction of inflammatory mediators through the corresponding signal pathway. Under the stimulation of inflammatory factors, neuroinflammation ultimately occurs. Overexpression of inflammatory mediators and activated immunocytes plays an important role in the emergence and ...

Immunomodulation of the Prostate Tumor Microenvironment Following Inorganic Arsenic Exposure
ABSTRACT The tumor microenvironment (TME) influences prostate cancer (PCa) progression through stromal and immune interactions. Adipose‐derived mesenchymal stromal cells (ASCs) modulate immune tone, while inorganic arsenic (iAs), a widespread toxicant, is linked to immune suppression and carcinogenesis.

Randomized phase 2 trial of regadenoson for treatment of acute vaso-occlusive crises in sickle cell disease [PDF]
Key Points Regadenoson did not reduce iNKT cell activation to a prespecified level when administered to patients with SCD. Because iNKT cell activation was not reduced, the benefit of iNKT cell-based therapies in SCD cannot be determined.

Deterministic Fiber‐Optic Spectral Engineering Enables Three‐Color Multiplexed Two‐Photon Microscopy
A simulation‐guided spectral‐engineering framework maps the nonlinear parameter space of a fiber laser platform to identify balanced three‐band excitation states. The resulting 960, 1080, and 1175 nm femtosecond pulses deliver nJ‐level energies for low‐cross‐talk chromatically multiplexed two‐photon microscopy.

Introduction: Natural killer T (NKT) cells are a subset of lymphocytes that express some NK cells properties. NKT cells have a regulatory role in immune responses. Little is known about the potential role of NKT cells in human infectious diseases.

Cellular deconvolution of GTEx tissues powers discovery of disease and cell-type associated regulatory variants. [PDF]
The Genotype-Tissue Expression (GTEx) resource has provided insights into the regulatory impact of genetic variation on gene expression across human tissues; however, thus far has not considered how variation acts at the resolution of the different cell ...

MendelR: A One‐Stop R Toolkit for Mendelian Randomization Analysis
ABSTRACT MendelR is a fully automated R package specifically developed for Mendelian randomization (MR) studies, designed to address the technical challenges of causal inference in biomedical research. As a powerful causal inference method, Mendelian randomization can effectively reduce confounding bias in observational studies.

Tissue-Specific Roles of NKT Cells in Tumor Immunity
NKT cells are an unusual population of T cells recognizing lipids presented by CD1d, a non-classical class-I-like molecule, rather than peptides presented by conventional MHC molecules. Type I NKT cells use a semi-invariant T cell receptor and almost all
