NLRP3 inflammasome in endothelial dysfunction

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2020
Inflammasomes are a class of cytosolic protein complexes. They act as cytosolic innate immune signal receptors to sense pathogens and initiate inflammatory responses under physiological and pathological conditions.

Janus Kinase Inhibition Ameliorates Ischemic Stroke Injury and Neuroinflammation Through Reducing NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation via JAK2/STAT3 Pathway Inhibition

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Background Inflammatory responses play a multiphase role in the pathogenesis of cerebral ischemic stroke (IS). Ruxolitinib (Rux), a selective oral JAK 1/2 inhibitor, reduces inflammatory responses via the JAK2/STAT3 pathway.

Biomaterial Strategies for Targeted Intracellular Delivery to Phagocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Phagocytes are essential to a functional immune system, and their behavior defines disease outcomes. Engineered particles offer a strategic opportunity to target phagocytes, harnessing inflammatory modulation in disease. By tuning features like size, shape, and surface, these systems can modulate immune responses and improve targeted treatment for a ...

An Animal‐Free Patient‐Derived Tissue‐Mimetic Biochip Model of the Human Synovial Membrane for Human‐Relevant Osteoarthritis Research

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Reihs et al. present the development of a humanized, animal‐free synovial membrane model for osteoarthritis. Methods include 3D biochip cultures of human‐primary OA synoviocytes with matrix and serum surrogates. Results show replication of synovial architecture and increased Yap1 expression.

One special question to start with: can HIF/NFkB be a target in inflammation? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Hypoxia and Inflammation are strictly interconnected with important consequences at clinical and therapeutic level. While cell and tissue damage due to acute hypoxia mostly leads to cell necrosis, in chronic hypoxia, cells that are located closer to ...

Recent advances in the mechanisms of NLRP3 inflammasome activation and its inhibitors

open access: yesCell Death and Disease, 2019
The NLRP3 inflammasome is a multimeric protein complex that initiates an inflammatory form of cell death and triggers the release of proinflammatory cytokines IL-1β and IL-18.

Colon‐Targeted Natural Polysaccharide‐Berberine Armored Hydrogel for the Treatment of Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this research, a novel hydrogel system targeting the colon is developed, incorporating Rhubarb polysaccharides and berberine‐loaded dendrimer. This hydrogel, forms through intermolecular hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions, accumulates in colonic tissues, effectively alleviating pathological immune hyperactivation while modulating gut ...
