Exploring the Interplay Between Senescent Osteocytes and Bone Remodeling in Young Rodents
This study identifies senescent osteocytes in the femur and tibia of young rodents and explores their role in bone remodeling. The proximity of osteoclasts to senescent osteocytes was observed, which is a new finding.

NRF2 function in osteocytes is required for bone homeostasis and drives osteocytic gene expression
Osteocytes, the most abundant bone cell type, are derived from osteoblasts through a process in which they are embedded in an osteoid. We previously showed that nutrient restriction promotes the osteocyte transcriptional program and is associated with ...

Aplidin (plitidepsin) is a novel anti-myeloma agent with potent anti-resorptive activity mediated by direct effects on osteoclasts [PDF]
Despite recent progress in its treatment, Multiple Myeloma (MM) remains incurable and its associated bone disease persists even after complete remission.

This work introduces photo‐crosslinkable tyraminated poly(vinyl alcohol)‐gelatin (PVA‐GT) hydrogels as tunable injectable platforms for tissue engineering and growth factor delivery applications. This schematic illustrates the two developed hydrogel formulations and the experimental workflow used to evaluate their physico‐chemical properties in vitro ...

As major regulators on bone formation/resorption in response to mechanical stimuli, osteocytes have shown great promise for restoring bone injury. However, due to the unmanageable and unabiding cell functions in unloading or diseased environments, the ...

Roles of osteocytes in phosphate metabolism
Osteocytes are dendritic cells in the mineralized bone matrix that descend from osteoblasts. They play critical roles in controlling bone mass through the production of sclerostin, an inhibitor of bone formation, and receptor activator of nuclear factor ...

Stimulation of Piezo1 by mechanical signals promotes bone anabolism [PDF]
Mechanical loading, such as caused by exercise, stimulates bone formation by osteoblasts and increases bone strength, but the mechanisms are poorly understood.

Magnetic Ion Channel Activation (MICA) enables remote stimulation of mechanosensitive ion channels using functionalised magnetic nanoparticles, enhancing extracellular vesicle (EV) biogenesis is pre‐osteoblasts. MICA desrived EVs exhibit typical nano‐vesicular characteristics but display superior pro‐osteogeneic activity, promoting mesenchymal stem ...

Research progress on the relationship between osteocytes and periodontitis
Osteocytes, which develop from osteoblasts, are recognized as the main cells embedded in mature bone tissue. The traditional notion is that osteocytes exclusively play a structural role, however, with the development of related research in recent years ...
