The class D carbapenemase OXA-48 was first detected in 2001 from a carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae isolate in Istanbul, Turkey [1]. The variant OXA-181, which differs from OXA-48 by four amino acids, was isolated later in India in 2007 from Enterobacter cloacae and K. pneumoniae.

In Silico Detection and Typing of Plasmids using PlasmidFinder and Plasmid Multilocus Sequence Typing [PDF]
In the work presented here, we designed and developed two easy-to-use Web tools for in silico detection and characterization of whole-genome sequence (WGS) and whole-plasmid sequence data from members of the family Enterobacteriaceae.

The Role of Macrophages in Cancer: From Basic Research to Clinical Applications
Monocytes infiltrate the tumor microenvironment (TME) and differentiate into macrophages, which polarize into proinflammatory, antitumor M1 cells or immunosuppressive, protumor M2 cells. Within the TME, M2‐type tumor‐associated macrophages (TAMs) predominate and drive tumor growth, angiogenesis, and metastasis. Therapeutic strategies therefore focus on

ABSTRACT Solute carrier transporters (SLCs) are integral membrane proteins that play pivotal roles in maintaining cellular homeostasis by mediating the transport of a diverse range of substrates across cell membranes. With their involvement in fundamental physiological processes such as nutrient uptake, neurotransmitter signaling, and drug transport ...

Cave Palaeolithic of the Ural Mountains – a review
The Ural Mountains are of fundamental importance for studying early human migrations along the geographical limits between Europe and Asia. Geological processes and past climates gave rise to numerous caves, mostly in Palaeozoic carbonate formations.

Detection of OXA-181/OXA-48 carbapenemase producing Enterobacteriaceae in Bangladesh
Carbapenem resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) is becoming a major public health concern globally. Detection of carbapenem hydrolyzing enzyme carbapenemase in Enterobacteriaceae is important to institute appropriate therapy and to initiate preventive ...

The difficult-to-control spread of carbapenemase producers in Enterobacteriaceae worldwide [PDF]
Spread of carbapenemase producers in Enterobacteriaceae is now identified worldwide. Three main carbapenemases are reported which belong to three classes of ß-lactamases that are KPC, NDM and OXA-48.

Despite efforts to develop polymeric materials using renewable feedstocks, there is a continued reliance on (meth)acrylates for several additive manufacturing (AM) technologies, diminishing their overall sustainability. On the other hand, itaconic acid presents itself as an opportunity to resolve these shortcomings as a biobased source of unsaturation,
