Draft Genome Sequence of a Multidrug-Resistant Sequence Type 231 Outbreak-Associated Clone of Klebsiella pneumoniae, KP41-2015, Producing OXA-232 Carbapenemase. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infection is a rising public health threat due to limited therapeutic options. Here, we report the genome sequence of a multidrug-resistant K. pneumoniae sequence type 231 (ST231) strain associated with an outbreak of infections in

Draft Genome Sequences of Four NDM-1-Producing Klebsiella pneumoniae Strains from a Health Care Facility in Northern California. [PDF]
We report the draft genome sequences of Klebsiella pneumoniae strains from four patients at a northern California health care facility. All strains contained the New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase (NDM1) carbapenemase with extended antibiotic resistance ...

OXA-48-like carbapenemases in the UK: an analysis of isolates and cases from 2007 to 2014 [PDF]
Objectives: OXA-48-like carbapenemases have spread worldwide since 2001. We analysed patient and microbiological data for UK isolates with these enzymes as confirmed by the national reference laboratory from November 2007 - December 2014.

Complete Genome Sequence of Klebsiella pneumoniae subsp. pneumoniae KP617, Coproducing OXA-232 and NDM-1 Carbapenemases, Isolated in South Korea. [PDF]
ABSTRACT The prevalence of Klebsiella pneumoniae coproducing carbapenemase metallo-β-lactamase 1 (NDM-1) and OXA-48 has been increasing globally since 2013. The complete genome of KP617 was sequenced and assembled into a circular chromosome and two plasmids.

Validation of Hexaplex Recombinase Polymerase Amplification Assay for the Detection of Carbapenemase Genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae Isolates From Pediatric Inpatients. [PDF]
A novel hexaplex recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) method was developed to rapidly and accurately detect five key carbapenemase genes and a Klebsiella pneumoniae‐specific target in a single reaction. This makes it an effective tool for CRKP detection in resource‐constrained environments.

Rapid Genomic Characterization and Global Surveillance of Klebsiella Using Pathogenwatch [PDF]
Background: Klebsiella species, including the notable pathogen K. pneumoniae, are increasingly associated with antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Genome-based surveillance can inform interventions aimed at controlling AMR.

The OXA β-lactamases were among the earliest β-lactamases detected; however, these molecular class D β-lactamases were originally relatively rare and always plasmid mediated.

Whole-genome assembly of Klebsiella pneumoniae coproducing NDM-1 and OXA-232 carbapenemases using single-molecule, real-time sequencing. [PDF]
ABSTRACT The whole-genome sequence of a carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae strain, PittNDM01, which coproduces NDM-1 and OXA-232 carbapenemases, was determined in this study. The use of single-molecule, real-time (SMRT) sequencing provided a closed genome in a single sequencing run.

Characterisation of OXA-244, a chromosomally-encoded OXA-48-like β-lactamase from Escherichia coli [PDF]
International audienceABSTRACT Shewanella spp. constitute a reservoir of antibiotic resistance determinants. In a bile sample, we identified three extended-spectrum-β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing bacteria ( Escherichia coli , Klebsiella pneumoniae , and ...
