Molecular basis for passive immunotherapy of Alzheimer's disease [PDF]
Amyloid aggregates of the amyloid-{beta} (A{beta}) peptide are implicated in the pathology of Alzheimer's disease. Anti-A{beta} monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) have been shown to reduce amyloid plaques in vitro and in animal studies.

Electron Capture Dissociation Mass Spectrometry of Tyrosine Nitrated Peptides [PDF]
In vivo protein nitration is associated with many disease conditions that involve oxidative stress and inflammatory response. The modification involves addition of a nitro group at the position ortho to the phenol group of tyrosine to give 3 ...

Probing the mechanisms of electron capture dissociation mass spectrometry with nitrated peptides [PDF]
Previously we have shown that the presence of 3-nitrotyrosine within a peptide sequence severely depletes the peptide backbone fragments typically observed following electron capture dissociation (ECD) mass spectrometry. Instead, ECD of nitrated peptides

Water immersion increases the concentration of the immunoreactive N-terminal fragment of pro-atrial natriuretic factor in human plasma [PDF]
Atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) N-terminal (ANF 1–98) and C-terminal (ANF 99–126) fragments were determined by radioimmunoassay in human plasma. Mean basal plasma ANF N-terminal concentrations in 9 healthy subjects were 461 ± 58 fmol/ml,significantly ...

Peptide‐Guided Assembly of Repeat Protein Fragments [PDF]
AbstractHerein, we present the peptide‐guided assembly of complementary fragments of designed armadillo repeat proteins (dArmRPs) to create proteins that bind peptides not only with high affinity but also with good selectivity. We recently demonstrated that complementary N‐ and C‐terminal fragments of dArmRPs form high‐affinity complexes that resemble ...

The synthesis of an analogue of the locust CRF-like diuretic peptide, and the biological activities of this and some C-terminal fragments. [PDF]
The synthesis is described of an analogue of the locust CRF-like diuretic peptide in which methionine in positions 1,3, and 13 is replaced by isosteric methyl-homoserine residues.

Modeling peptide fragmentation with dynamic Bayesian networks for peptide identification [PDF]
AbstractMotivation: Tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS) is an indispensable technology for identification of proteins from complex mixtures. Proteins are digested to peptides that are then identified by their fragmentation patterns in the mass spectrometer.

Fragmentation characteristics of glycopeptides [PDF]
Mass spectrometric analysis of glycopeptides is an emerging strategy for analysis of glycosylation patterns. Here we present an approach using energy resolved collision induced decomposition (CID) spectra to determine structural features of glycopeptides.

Effect of phenylalanine on the fragmentation of deprotonated peptides [PDF]
The fragmentation reactions of a variety of deprotonated dipeptides and tripeptides containing phenylalanine have been studied using energy-resolved collision-induced dissociation, isotopic labeling and MS/MS/MS experiments. The benzyl a-group has a substantial effect on the fragmentation reactions observed.
