Epimerisation in Peptide Synthesis
Epimerisation is basically a chemical conversion that includes the transformation of an epimer into another epimer or its chiral partner. Epimerisation of amino acid is a side reaction that sometimes happens during peptide synthesis. It became the most avoided reaction because the process affects the overall conformation of the molecule, eventually ...

The Lawnmower: an autonomous, protein-based artificial molecular motor [PDF]
Inspired by biology, great progress has been made in creating artificial molecular motors. However, the dream of harnessing proteins - the building blocks selected by Nature - to design autonomous motors has so far remained elusive. Here we report the synthesis and characterization of the Lawnmower, an autonomous, protein-based artificial molecular ...

Identifying sequential residue patterns in bitter and umami peptides [PDF]
The primary structures of peptides, originating from food proteins, affect their taste. Connecting primary structure to taste, however, is difficult because the size of the peptide sequence space increases exponentially with increasing peptide length, while experimentally-labeled data on peptides' tastes remain scarce.

A pathway to peptides in space through the condensation of atomic carbon [PDF]
Organic molecules are widely present in the dense interstellar medium, and many have been synthesized in the laboratory on Earth under the conditions typical for an interstellar environment. Until now, however, only relatively small molecules of biological interest have been demonstrated to form experimentally under typical space conditions.

A transient inflammatory response contributes to oxaliplatin neurotoxicity in mice
Abstract Objectives Peripheral neuropathy is a relevant dose‐limiting adverse event that can affect up to 90% of oncologic patients with colorectal cancer receiving oxaliplatin treatment. The severity of neurotoxicity often leads to dose reduction or even premature cessation of chemotherapy.

TripHLApan: predicting HLA molecules binding peptides based on triple coding matrix and transfer learning [PDF]
Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) is an important molecule family in the field of human immunity, which recognizes foreign threats and triggers immune responses by presenting peptides to T cells. In recent years, the synthesis of tumor vaccines to induce specific immune responses has become the forefront of cancer treatment.

Non-equilibrium odds for the emergence of life [PDF]
Large and complex molecules are building blocks for life. We compute probabilities for their formation from an average non-equilibrium model. As the distance from thermodynamic equilibrium is increased in this model, so too are the chances for forming molecules that would be prohibitively rare in thermodynamic equilibrium.
