Secondary structure of the promastigote surface protease of Leishmania [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
By Raman spectroscopic analysis we have determined the secondary structure of the promastigote surface protease, named PSP or gp63, of Leishmania major. It consist of nearly 50% antiparallel β-strand, and less than 20% α-helix.

Metalloprotease Gp63-Targeting Novel Glycoside Exhibits Potential Antileishmanial Activity

open access: yesFrontiers in Cellular and Infection Microbiology, 2022
Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) and post kala-azar dermal leishmaniasis (PKDL) affect most of the poor populations worldwide. The current treatment modalities include liposomal formulation or deoxycholate salt of amphotericin B, which has been associated ...

Therapeutic Effects of Matricaria chamomilla Extract in an Immunosuppressed Mouse Model of Cryptosporidiosis

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Chamomile (Matricaria chamomilla) extract significantly reduced oocyst shedding and intestinal lesions in immunosuppressed mice infected with Cryptosporidium parvum, while enhancing antioxidant defences (GPx, TAC). These findings suggest chamomile as a promising phytotherapeutic agent for cryptosporidiosis. ABSTRACT Background Cryptosporidiosis, caused

Kinetoplastid membrane protein-11 is present in promastigotes and amastigotes of Leishmania amazonensis and its surface expression increases during metacyclogenesis

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 2010
Kinetoplastid membrane protein-11 (KMP-11), a protein present in all kinetoplastid protozoa, is considered a potential candidate for a leishmaniasis vaccine.

Different Transcriptomic Responses After Moderate and Severe Heat Shock in Trypanosoma cruzi Epimastigotes

open access: yesJournal of Eukaryotic Microbiology, Volume 73, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT Trypanosoma cruzi undergoes heat stress during its life cycle. In this study, we performed a transcriptomic analysis of the heat shock response in epimastigotes from different T. cruzi strains. In both clone CL Brener and the Y strain, very few to no statistically significant variations were observed in the transcriptome at 37°C, whereas ...

Effect of Different Types of Blood on the Growth of Cutaneus Leishmaniasis Agent in Vitro

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ’Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Shahīd Ṣadūqī Yazd, 2007
Introduction: As there is a high prevalence of cutaneous Leishmaniasis in Iran, the problems and expenses for culture of the parasite are important. The effect of different types of blood human, cattle, sheep and goat on growth of leishmania tropica ...

Pyridyl‐Thiazole‐Thiosemicarbazones as Antitrypanosomatidae Agents: Design, Synthesis, and In Silico Profiling

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 16, 27 August 2026.
A novel pyridine–thiazole derivative, Compound 8, exhibited potent dual antitrypanosomatid activity. It demonstrated remarkable in vitro efficacy against Trypanosoma cruzi (IC50 = 1.0 µM) and L. amazonensis (IC50 = 3.9 µM). Molecular docking studies suggested interactions with heme and multiple molecular targets.

Effect of haemoglobin on promastigote growth.

open access: yes, 2017
Promastigotes were cultured in triplicate in three media differing in haemoglobin content; M1 (0.0099 g/L), M2 (0.495 g/L) and M3 (0.99 g/L). These media were accompanied by a negative control medium containing no haemoglobin (M0).

IAA Synthesis Pathway of Fitibacillus barbaricus WL35 and Its Regulatory Gene Expression Levels in Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.)

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), as an important regulator of potato growth, seriously affects the growth and yield of potato. Although many studies have reported that IAA-producing Bacillus can promote plant growth, little research has been conducted on its ...

Synthesis and Antiparasitic Activities of New Organometallic Derivatives of the Benzimidazole Anthelmintic Drugs

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 15, 14 August 2026.
Organometallic derivatization of existing drugs is a common strategy to look for new drug candidates. This work describes the derivatization of the benzimidazole anthelmintic scaffold, from the synthesis of the organometallic derivatives to the evaluation of their biological properties. It highlights a broad range of antiparasitic activities and leaves
