Identification of receptor-binding domains on human interleukin 5 and design of an interleukin 5-derived receptor antagonist. [PDF]
A detailed structure-function analysis of human interleukin 5 (hIL5) has been performed. The hIL5 receptor is composed of two different polypeptide chains, the alpha and beta subunits. The alpha subunit alone is sufficient for ligand binding, but association with the beta subunit leads to a 2- to 3-fold increase in binding affinity.

Interleukin-5 and Interleukin-5 Receptor Polymorphism in Asthma
Asthma is a common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways of the lungs, in the world. It’s associated with type 2 cytokines interleukin-4, IL-5, and IL-13, which promote airway eosinophilia, bronchial hyperresponsiveness, mucus overproduction, and immunogloubulin E synthesis.

Receptor Epitope Usage by an Interleukin-5 Mimetic Peptide [PDF]
The cyclic peptide AF17121 is a library-derived antagonist for human interleukin-5 (IL5) receptor alpha (IL5Ralpha) and inhibits IL5 activity. Our previous results have demonstrated that the sixth arginine residue of the peptide is crucial for the inhibitory effect and that several acidic residues in the N- and C-terminal regions also make a ...

Characterization of high-affinity receptors for interleukin 5 on interleukin 5-dependent cell lines. [PDF]
Interleukin 5 (IL-5) is a glycosylated polypeptide that acts as a key factor for B-cell growth and differentiation. We demonstrated previously that there are two classes (high and low affinity) of IL-5 receptors on murine chronic B-cell leukemic cells (BCL1-B20).

A potent dimeric peptide antagonist of interleukin-5 that binds two interleukin-5 receptor α chains [PDF]
Two series of peptides that specifically bind to the extracellular domain of the α chain of the human interleukin-5 receptor (IL-5Rα), but share no primary sequence homology to IL-5, were identified from libraries of random recombinant peptides. Affinity maturation procedures generated a 19-aa peptide that binds to the IL-5 receptor α/β heterodimer ...

Nicotinamide inhibits melanoma in vitro and in vivo
Background Even though new therapies are available against melanoma, novel approaches are needed to overcome resistance and high-toxicity issues. In the present study the anti-melanoma activity of Nicotinamide (NAM), the amide form of Niacin, was ...

Novel Biological Therapies for Severe Asthma Endotypes
Severe asthma comprises several heterogeneous phenotypes, underpinned by complex pathomechanisms known as endotypes. The latter are driven by intercellular networks mediated by molecular components which can be targeted by specific monoclonal antibodies.
