A guide to the types, structures, and multifaceted functions of matrix metalloproteinases in cancer

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) orchestrate cancer progression and metastasis through proteolytic and non‐proteolytic actions. By remodeling the tumor microenvironment, enhancing growth factor availability, and modulating cell behavior, MMPs promote proliferation, migration or invasion, and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition. Alongside extracellular

Parameter values for the model of a half-sarcomere.

open access: yes, 2015
Parameters used for the simulation of a half-sarcomere experiencing driving sinusoidal oscillations. The model is described in detail in the text.Parameter values for the model of a half-sarcomere.

Exercise‐related microRNAs in Caenorhabditis elegans regulate calcium homeostasis and mitochondrial dynamics: Conserved pathways, divergent microRNAs

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Exercise‐related microRNAs cel‐miR‐249‐3p and cel‐miR‐77‐5p in C. elegans regulate lifespan, fitness, mitochondrial morphology and membrane potential. Although lacking direct mammalian orthologs, H2O2‐induced microRNAs mmu‐miR‐181a‐5p and mmu‐miR‐378a‐3p regulate myogenesis, autophagy, mitochondrial content and respiration in murine myoblasts ...

Bundle stress vs. sarcomere length.

open access: yes, 2019
Stress vs. sarcomere length experimental data for passive elongation of single fibres and bundles. Fast and slow fibres are grouped together for comparison. Red tones are for fibres, blue ones for bundles (different colour for each sample).

Biogenesis of TNF‐α‐insights into proteostasis and inflammation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
TNF‐α biogenesis, trafficking, and signalling are tightly and reciprocally coupled to cellular proteostasis systems, including ER chaperones and endoplasmic reticulum‐associated degradation. This bidirectional crosstalk determines whether TNF‐α responses are adaptive or proteotoxic.

Visualizing sarcomere and cellular dynamics in skeletal muscle to improve cell therapies

open access: yeseLife
The giant striated muscle protein titin integrates into the developing sarcomere to form a stable myofilament system that is extended as myocytes fuse.

Build it up-Tear it down: protein quality control in the cardiac sarcomere

open access: yes, 2008
The assembly and maintenance of the cardiac sarcomere, which contains the basic contractile components of actin and myosin, are essential for cardiac function.

TRIM32 controls timely cell cycle exit in muscular differentiation through downregulation of c‐Myc mRNA

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Trim32 regulates the transition from proliferation to differentiation in C2C12 cells after myogenic induction. We found that, at the onset of differentiation, Trim32 destabilizes c‐Myc mRNA, promotes cell cycle exit, and enables normal myotube formation.
