SERINC5 inhibits multiple IAV strains.

open access: yes, 2022
A-B: Pseudoviruses were produced by transfecting HEK293T cells with plasmid DNA psPAX2, LentiGFP/Luc, pCAGGS-HA (expressing H1 to H16), pCAGGS-NA(WSN), or VSV G. The pseudoviruses were then used to infect A549 cells that either overexpress SERINC5 (A) or

Neuro‐HIV—New insights into pathogenesis and emerging therapeutic targets

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 37, Issue 12, December 2023., 2023
HIV infection (blue circle) by definition is the key contributor to the pathogenesis of HAND with many other contributing factors greatly influencing the progression of the disease. These factors are grouped according to their common features; HAND is at the intersection of these groups (dash‐line circle).

Exogenous SERINC5 inhibits IAV infection.

open access: yes, 2022
A-C: Pesudoviruses were produced by transfecting HEK293T cells using plasmid DNA ΔEnv/NefG2A HIV-1NL4-3 (containing mutated Nef) together with Env (HXB2), Env (YU-2), VSV-G, or HA/NA, and the indicated amounts of SERINC5 plasmid or empty vector.

SARS‐CoV‐2 ORF7a blocked autophagy flux by intervening in the fusion between autophagosome and lysosome to promote viral infection and pathogenesis

open access: yesJournal of Medical Virology, Volume 95, Issue 11, November 2023., 2023
Abstract The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) continues to pose a major threat to public health worldwide. Although many studies have clarified the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus‐2 (SARS‐CoV‐2) infection process, the underlying mechanisms of viral invasion and immune evasion were still unclear.

SERINC5 inhibits early steps of IAV infection.

open access: yes, 2022
A-B: HEK293T cells were transiently transfected with SERINC5 DNA, then infected with A/WSN/33 (MOI = 0.05). Supernatants were harvested 24 h.p.i. Virus titers in the culture supernatants were determined by plaque assays.

Hepatitis B virus movement through the hepatocyte: An update

open access: yesBiology of the Cell, Volume 114, Issue 12, Page 325-348, December 2022., 2022
Model of intracellular trafficking routes of progeny hepatitis B virus (HBV) viral and subviral particles through the liver cell involving nucleocytoplasmic shuttling, movement through the ER/Golgi secretory pathway, and budding and release through the multivesicular body (MVB) and/or secretory autophagosomes (sAP) axis.

Structural and molecular characterization of paraventricular thalamic glucokinase‐expressing neuronal circuits in the mouse

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 530, Issue 11, Page 1773-1949, August 2022., 2022
By using a genetically modified mouse model and viral tracing approaches, we mapped both the anterograde and the retrograde projections of a subpopulation of neurons in the anterior paraventricular thalamic nucleus, molecularly defined by the expression of glucokinase (GckaPVT).

SERINC5 Inhibits the Secretion of Complete and Genome-Free Hepatitis B Virions Through Interfering With the Glycosylation of the HBV Envelope

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2020
Serine incorporator 3 (SERINC3) and SERINC5 were recently identified as host intrinsic factors against human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 and counteracted by HIV-1 Nef.

A gene network of uterine luminal epithelium organizes mouse blastocyst implantation

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 21, Issue 1, January/December 2022., 2022
Abstract Purpose The receptive endometrium is critical for blastocyst implantation. In mice, after blastocysts enter the uterine cavities on day 4 of pregnancy (day 1 = vaginal plug), blastocyst attachment is completed within 24 h, accompanied by dynamic interactions between the uterine luminal epithelium and the blastocysts.

Fungal Ice2p is in the same superfamily as SERINCs, restriction factors for HIV and other viruses

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, Volume 89, Issue 10, Page 1240-1250, October 2021., 2021
Abstract Ice2p is an integral endoplasmic reticulum (ER) membrane protein in budding yeast S. cerevisiae named ICE because it is required for Inheritance of Cortical ER. Ice2p has also been reported to be involved in an ER metabolic branch‐point that regulates the flux of lipid either to be stored in lipid droplets or to be used as membrane components.
