Does HIV-1 Envelope Trimer Conformation Determine Sensitivity to Host-Protein SERINC5? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
As scientists work towards elucidating the various mechanisms HIV uses for infection and evasion of the immune system, a large focus has been on the HIV-1 protein Envelope (Env). Env is essential for the attachment and entry of virions, and is the target

Understanding the Variability of Peanut‐Oral Immunotherapy Responses by Multi‐Omics Profiling of Immune Cells

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 80, Issue 12, Page 3342-3358, December 2025.
This study analyzes molecular drivers of OIT responsiveness. Multi‐omics profiling of peanut‐stimulated PBMCs in a controlled peanut‐OIT trial identifies immune, transcriptomic, and epigenetic changes distinguishing complete responders from incomplete responders. Key findings highlight gastrointestinal immune mechanisms, including extracellular exosome

SERINC5: Its Sensitivity to Nef and Restriction of HIV-1

open access: yes, 2018
The accessory protein Nef of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) has long been known to enhance the infectivity of HIV-1 progeny virions. The multipass transmembrane proteins serine incorporator 3 (SERINC3) and SERINC5 were recently identified as

Cx47 Phosphorylation Exacerbates White Matter Damage and Kainic Acid Induced Epilepsy

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 31, Issue 11, November 2025.
The upregulation of phosphorylated Cx47 (p‐Cx47), driven by CaM/CaMK‐dependent phosphorylation, plays a critical role in seizure progression in TLE. The CaMKII inhibitor KN93 suppressed Cx47, thereby reducing its phosphorylation, alleviating demyelination, and attenuating seizure progression.

Variation in HIV-1 Nef function within and among viral subtypes reveals genetically separable antagonism of SERINC3 and SERINC5.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2020
HIV Nef counteracts cellular host restriction factors SERINC3 and SERINC5, but our understanding of how naturally occurring global Nef sequence diversity impacts these activities is limited.

The Antiviral Mechanism of SERINC5 on HIV-1 Infection

open access: yes, 2020
SERINC5 is a 10-12 transmembrane domain cellular protein that is incorporated into budding HIV-1 particles and reduces HIV-1 infectivity by inhibiting virus-cell fusion.

Functional Interplay Between Murine Leukemia Virus Glycogag, Serinc5, and Surface Glycoprotein Governs Virus Entry, with Opposite Effects on Gammaretroviral and Ebolavirus Glycoproteins

open access: yesmBio, 2016
Gammaretroviruses, such as murine leukemia viruses (MLVs), encode, in addition to the canonical Gag, Pol, and Env proteins that will form progeny virus particles, a protein called “glycogag” (glycosylated Gag).

Loss of tetherin antagonism by Nef impairs SIV replication during acute infection of rhesus macaques.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2020
Most simian immunodeficiency viruses use Nef to counteract the tetherin proteins of their nonhuman primate hosts. Nef also downmodulates cell-surface CD4 and MHC class I (MHC I) molecules and enhances viral infectivity by counteracting SERINC5.

Multi‐omics delineate growth factor network underlying exercise effects in an Alzheimer's mouse model

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 21, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract INTRODUCTION Physical exercise is a primary defense against age‐related cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease (AD). METHODS We conducted single‐nucleus transcriptomic and chromatin accessibility analyses (snRNA‐seq and snATAC‐seq) on the hippocampus of mice carrying mutations in the amyloid precursor protein gene (APPNL‐G‐F) following ...

Hydrophilic Components as Key Active Ingredients in Adipose‐Derived Matrix Bioscaffolds for Inducing Fat Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 13, Issue 31, December 16, 2024.
DAM is composed of two kinds of components, hydrophilic and lipophilic. Hydrophilic rather than lipophilic proteins are the key components of DAM. Intracellular proteins can be retain in DAM profitably due to their hydrophilicity. Hydrophilic DAM can be prepared faster with unprecedented efficacy of fat regeneration.
