Shikimate Kinase Isoenzymes in Salmonella typhimurium

Abstract A study was undertaken of the shikimate kinase activity of extracts of Salmonella typhimurium. Chromatography on diethylaminoethyl cellulose revealed consistently the presence of two widely separated peaks of activity, the faster moving enzyme being more unstable than the slower moving, major enzymic constituent.
