A new fluorometric assay for spermidine synthase

Analytical Biochemistry, 1981
Abstract A new fluorometric assay for spermidine synthase, using oat seedling polyamine oxidase, was devised. Spermidine, the product of spermidine synthase reaction, is oxidized by oat seedling polyamine oxidase to produce hydrogen peroxide; the hydrogen peroxide reacts with homovanillic acid in the presence of peroxidase to yield a fluorescent ...

Human Spermidine Synthase: Cloning and Primary Structure

DNA and Cell Biology, 1990
Using a synthetic deoxyoligonucleotide mixture constructed for a tryptic peptide of the bovine enzyme as a probe, cDNA coding for the full-length subunit of spermidine synthase was isolated from a human decidual cDNA library constructed on phage lambda gt11.

ChemInform Abstract: STEREOCHEMISTRY OF SPERMIDINE SYNTHASE

Chemischer Informationsdienst, 1983

Human Spermidine Synthase Gene: Structure and Chromosomal Localization

DNA and Cell Biology, 1991
The human spermidine synthase (EC 2.5.1.16) gene was isolated from a genomic library constructed with DNA obtained from a human immunoglobulin G (IgG) myeloma cell line. Subsequent sequence analyses revealed that the gene comprised of 5,818 nucleotides from the cap site to the last A of the putative polyadenylation signal with 8 exons and 7 intervening

Spermidine biosynthesis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae: Polyaminerequirement of a null mutant of the SPE3 gene (spermidine synthase)

Gene, 1997
The Saccharomyces cerevisiae SPE3 gene, coding for spermidine synthase, was cloned, sequenced, and localized on the right arm of chromosome XVI. The deduced amino acid sequence has a high similarity to mammalian spermidine synthases, and has putative S-adenosylmethionine binding motifs.

Identification and characterization of spermidine synthase gene from Panax ginseng

Molecular Biology Reports, 2009
A full length spermidine synthase (PgSPD) cDNA was isolated and characterized from the root of Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer. The cDNA was 1,188 nucleotides long and had an open reading frame of 1,002 bp with a deduced amino acid sequence of 333 residues.

A distinctive class of spermidine synthase is involved in chilling response in rice

Journal of Plant Physiology, 2004
A cDNA for a putative 42 kD spermidine synthase (OsSPDS2) was cloned from rice. The deduced OsSPDS2 sequence showed highest similarity with Arabidopsis AtSPDS3. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that OsSPDS2 and AtSPDS3 form a distinctive subclass in the spermidine synthase family in plants.

Rational design of S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase SpeD and spermidine synthase SpeE for green synthesis of spermidine

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules
Spermidine, a natural polyamine, possesses multiple biological activities and holds excellent application value. However, the low-activity enzymes in spermidine synthesis pathway limits spermidine production, including S-adenosylmethionine decarboxylase (SpeD) and spermidine synthase (SpeE).
