Overexpression of wheat spermidine synthase gene enhances wheat resistance to Fusarium head blight

open access: yesPhytopathology Research
Polyamines, such as putrescine, spermidine, and spermine, are crucial for plant defense against both abiotic and biotic stresses. Putrescine is also known as a significant inducer of deoxynivalenol (DON) production in Fusarium graminearum, the primary ...

Multi‐omics–driven precision medicine

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
Multi‐omics‐driven precision medicine (MODPM) provides a multiscale, continuously learnable framework that integrates genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, microbiome profiles, and clinical data. Powered by artificial intelligence and foundation models, MODPM enables cross‐modal representation learning, contextual modeling ...

Evaluation of differential expression of homospermidine synthase (HSS1) gene in different tissues of medicinal plant Senecio vulgaris L [PDF]

open access: yesمجله بیوتکنولوژی کشاورزی, 2019
Objective Homospermidine synthase (HSS) is the first enzyme in the specific pathway of pyrrolizidiene alkaloid (PA). HSS catalyzes the NAD1-dependent transfer of an aminobutyl group of spermidine to putrescine.

Yeast Knockout Strain Collection: Driving Functional Genomics, Biotechnological Applications and Human Disease Research

open access: yesYeast, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The knockout strain collection of Saccharomyces cerevisiae has served as a valuable resource for functional genomics and yeast‐based biotechnology studies. A comprehensive single‐gene knockout strain collection, covering nearly all non‐essential genes, together with complementary mutant collections for essential genes, including temperature ...

2‐Mercaptoethylamine, a competitive inhibitor of spermidine synthase in mammalian cells [PDF]

open access: yesFEBS Letters, 1988
Spermidine synthase from rat ventral prostate was inhibited by 2‐mercaptoethylamine (MEA). Inhibition of spermidine synthase by MEA was competitive with respect to one of the substrates putrescine, but not competitive with respect to the other substrate decarboxylated S‐adenosylmethionine.

Inhibition of Ornithine Decarboxylase 1 Mitigates Denervation‐Induced Muscle Atrophy by Suppressing Proteolysis and Preserving Muscle Stem Cell Homeostasis

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Polyamine metabolism is innervation responsive and involved in denervation‐induced muscle atrophy. Inhibition of polyamine metabolism attenuates muscle atrophy by restraining proteolysis and preserving MuSCs homeostasis. Denervation‐induced activation of FAP‐derived FGF7 drives premature MuSCs activation, while DFMO suppresses this paracrine cue to ...

Multi-Temperature Crystallography of Polyamine Biosynthesis Enzymes Reveals Differing Active Site Conformations at RT than 100K [PDF]

open access: yesStructural Dynamics
The polyamine biosynthetic pathway synthesizes the polyamines putrescine, spermidine, and spermine from ornithine and S-adenosyl methionine. These polyamines are important molecules in metabolism and are associated with growth and proliferation of cells ...

Phenylbutyrate modulates polyamine acetylase and ameliorates Snyder-Robinson syndrome in a Drosophila model and patient cells

open access: yesJCI Insight, 2022
Polyamine dysregulation plays key roles in a broad range of human diseases from cancer to neurodegeneration. Snyder-Robinson syndrome (SRS) is the first known genetic disorder of the polyamine pathway, caused by X-linked recessive loss-of-function ...

Transgenic mice over-expressing the human spermidine synthase gene [PDF]

open access: yesBiochemical Journal, 1993
We have generated a transgenic mouse line harbouring the functional (chromosome-1-derived) human spermidine synthase (EC 2.5.1.16) gene in their genome. The transgenic animals expressed the human gene-derived mRNA, as revealed by reverse-transcriptase/PCR analysis, in all tissues studied and displayed tissue spermidine synthase activity that was 2-6 ...
