Light‐Induced Anion Translocation to Control Helical Folding in an Artificial Communication System

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Anion‐induced helical folding of an oligomer is controlled indirectly and reversibly by light through anion uptake/release by a photoresponsive receptor. Thus, a light signal is processed into a chemical signal in a communication‐type three‐component supramolecular system.

In vitro antileishmanial activity of trans-stilbene and terphenyl compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Leishmaniasis are globally widespread parasitic diseases which often leads to death if left untreated. Currently available drugs present different drawbacks, so there is an urgent need to develop new, safe and cost-effective drugs against leishmaniasis ...

Dynamic Control of Nucleic Acids Self‐Assembly and Expression Using Photoswitches

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We review here the recent progress made in the design of molecular photoswitches, and highlight their implementation for the dynamic control over nucleic acids self‐assembly and expression. ABSTRACT Synthetic nucleic acids have become readily available and now constitute versatile building blocks in materials science—where they can be used to engineer ...

Energy Landscapes in Chemical Reactions and Transport

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Kinetics/dynamics of chemical reactivity and transport of chemical species in a solid are both determined by the energy landscape in which they take place. Discussing common grounds but also distinct differences may help in advancing the understanding in both fields.

Voltage-dependent Block of the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator Cl- Channel by Two Closely Related Arylaminobenzoates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
The gene defective in cystic fibrosis encodes a Cl- channel, the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR). CFTR is blocked by diphenylamine-2-carboxylate (DPC) when applied extracellularly at millimolar concentrations.

Development of a liquid-liquid extraction method of resveratrol from cell culture media using solubility parameters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
YesThe extraction of bioactive compounds, produced by plant cell cultures, directly from their culture medium, which contains other by-products, is a great challenge.

Mechanochemical Hydrodeoxygenations

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A silver‐catalyzed mechanochemical hydrodeoxygenation with triethylsilane as reductant allows to convert ketones to the corresponding methylene derivatives in good yields after a short reaction time. Selected examples show that also alcohols, ethers, and sulfoxides can react. In this work, a mechanochemical hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) was developed. Using
