T Cell Exhaustion

open access: yesAnnual Review of Immunology
T cell responses must be balanced to ensure adequate protection against malignant transformation and an array of pathogens while also limiting damage to healthy cells and preventing autoimmunity. T cell exhaustion serves as a regulatory mechanism to limit the activity and effector function of T cells undergoing chronic antigen stimulation.

Research on strategies to inhibit CAR-T cell exhaustion [PDF]

open access: yesXin yixue
Immunotherapy has achieved good efficacy in clinical anti-tumor therapy, especially chimeric antigen receptor T cell (CAR-T cell) therapy, as an emerging tumor immunotherapy, has achieved breakthrough efficacy in the clinical treatment of hematologic ...

T-cell exhaustion in the tumor microenvironment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
T-cell exhaustion was originally identified during chronic infection in mice, and was subsequently observed in humans with cancer. The exhausted T cells in the tumor microenvironment show overexpressed inhibitory receptors, decreased effector cytokine ...

T-cell exhaustion in the tumor microenvironment [PDF]

open access: yesCell Death & Disease, 2015
AbstractT-cell exhaustion was originally identified during chronic infection in mice, and was subsequently observed in humans with cancer. The exhausted T cells in the tumor microenvironment show overexpressed inhibitory receptors, decreased effector cytokine production and cytolytic activity, leading to the failure of cancer elimination.

Tireless surveillance by exhausted T cells

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 2021
T cell exhaustion is an evocative concept that results in attenuated function in the face of chronic antigen exposure and is critical to avoid immunopathology. However, tumors often exploit this dampened T cell function to escape the antitumor immune response. In this issue of the JCI, You et al.

Memory T cell, exhaustion, and tumor immunity

open access: yesImmunological Medicine, 2020
CD8+T cells are important in protective immunity against intracellular pathogens and tumors. In chronic infections or cancer, CD8+T cells are constantly exposed to antigens and inflammatory signals.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Single-cell transcriptome analysis reveals TOX as a promoting factor for T cell exhaustion and a predictor for anti-PD-1 responses in human cancer

open access: yesGenome Medicine, 2020
Background T cells exhibit heterogeneous functional states in the tumor microenvironment. Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) can reinvigorate only the stem cell-like progenitor exhausted T cells, which suggests that inhibiting the exhaustion progress ...
