Tropomyosin 1 Promotes Platelet Adhesion and Clot Contraction Separate from Its Roles in Developmental Hematopoiesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Genome‐wide association studies (GWAS) link the Tropomyosin 1 (Tpm1) locus to quantitative blood trait variation, but related mechanisms are unclear. Tpm1 encodes an actin‐binding protein that regulates actin filament diversity, cell adhesion, signaling, and actomyosin contractility.

Genetic Mutations in the LTR Region of SRLV Viruses in Capra ibex

open access: yesمجلة المختار للعلوم, 2020
The lentivirus (genus of the retroviruses family) can integrate a significant amount of viral cDNA into the DNA of the host cell and can efficiently infect dividing cells.

The BnTFL1‐BnJAM3‐BnSWEETs Module Orchestrates Seed Storage Reserve Accumulation in Brassica napus

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 form a complex that facilitates the transport of soluble sugars from the seed coat to the embryo by directly activating the expression of BnSWEETs. Furthermore, BnaC03.TFL1 and BnaA01.JAM3 work cooperatively to promote soluble sugar and oil production while suppressing protein deposition.

Single-molecule microscopy study of nano-systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this work, techniques were developed and used to study the properties of molecules on a single-molecule level. Single-molecule techniques have the major advantage, that in contrast to ensemble measurements, they allow a detailed insight on the ...

Emergent Spin Hall Quantization and High‐Order van Hove singularities in Square‐Octagonal MA2Z4

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
Square‐octagonal MA2Z4 (M = Mo/W, A = Si/Ge, Z = pnictogen) monolayers are predicted to realize quantum spin Hall insulators with nearly quantized spin Hall conductivity enabled by an emergent spin U(1) quasi‐symmetry. Materials with Z = As and Sb host quasi‐flat bands with high‐order van Hove singularities near the Fermi level, making them promising ...

CTGC motifs within the HIV core promoter specify Tat-responsive pre-initiation complexes

open access: yesRetrovirology, 2012
Background HIV latency is an obstacle for the eradication of HIV from infected individuals. Stable post-integration latency is controlled principally at the level of transcription.

Molecular determinants underlying functional innovations of TBP and their impact on transcription initiation

open access: yesNature Communications, 2020
The TATA-box binding protein (TBP) is required for transcription initiation in archaea and eukaryotes. Here the authors delineate how TBP’s function has evolved new functional features through context-dependent interactions with various protein partners.

Classification of Promoters Based on the Combination of Core Promoter Elements Exhibits Different Histone Modification Patterns. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Four different histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4; two subunits each) constitute a histone octamer, around which DNA wraps to form histone-DNA complexes called nucleosomes.

Snf2 family ATPases and DExx box helicases:differences and unifying concepts from high-resolution crystal structures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Proteins with sequence similarity to the yeast Snf2 protein form a large family of ATPases that act to alter the structure of a diverse range of DNA-protein structures including chromatin. Snf2 family enzymes are related in sequence to DExx box helicases,

The Dynamics of Community Development, Product Responsibility and Environmental Management Teams for Improving Emissions Performance

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates whether, under what conditions, and how community development—conceived as a form of engagement with secondary stakeholders—affects firms' emissions performance. Specifically, we examine the moderating role of Environmental Management Teams (EMTs) and the mediating role of product responsibility capability.
