Cross-talk between Bcr-abl and the Thioredoxin System in Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia: Implications for CML Treatment. [PDF]
Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is currently treated with inhibitors of the CML specific oncoprotein, bcr-abl. While this strategy is initially successful, drug resistance can become a problem.

Evolutionarily Conserved Role of Thioredoxin Systems in Determining Longevity
Thioredoxin and thioredoxin reductase are evolutionarily conserved antioxidant enzymes that protect organisms from oxidative stress. These proteins also play roles in redox signaling and can act as a redox-independent cellular chaperone.

The Thioredoxin System of Helicobacter pylori [PDF]
This paper describes the purification of thioredoxin reductase (TR) and the characterization, purification, and cloning of thioredoxin (Trx) from Helicobacter pylori. Purification, amino acid sequence analysis, and molecular cloning of the gene encoding thioredoxin revealed that it is a 12-kDa protein which possesses the conserved redox active motif ...

The thioredoxin reductase system of mycoplasmas [PDF]
Representative species of the Mollicutes possess a thioredoxin reductase system (NTS) composed of a low-molecular-mass thioredoxin (TRX) and NADPH-binding thioredoxin reductase (NTR). The TRXs of Mycoplasma pneumoniae and M. capricolum have molecular masses of 11.2 and 12 kDa, respectively, and are stable at 90 °C for 10 min.

PLANT THIOREDOXIN SYSTEMS REVISITED [PDF]
▪ Abstract Thioredoxins, the ubiquitous small proteins with a redox active disulfide bridge, are important regulatory elements in plant metabolism. Initially recognized as regulatory proteins in the reversible light activation of key photosynthetic enzymes, they have subsequently been found in the cytoplasm and in mitochondria.

The role of thioredoxin reductases in brain development [PDF]
The thioredoxin-dependent system is an essential regulator of cellular redox balance. Since oxidative stress has been linked with neurodegenerative disease, we studied the roles of thioredoxin reductases in brain using mice with nervous system (NS ...
