Genetic Determinants of Tigecycline Resistance in Mycobacteroides abscessus. [PDF]
Mycobacteroides abscessus (formerly Mycobacterium abscessus) is a clinically important, rapid-growing non-tuberculous mycobacterium notoriously known for its multidrug-resistance phenotype. The intrinsic resistance of M. abscessus towards first- and second-generation tetracyclines is mainly due to the over-expression of a tetracycline-degrading enzyme ...

A Novel Tigecycline Adjuvant ML-7 Reverses the Susceptibility of Tigecycline-Resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae [PDF]
The increasing incidence of tigecycline resistance undoubtedly constitutes a serious threat to global public health. The combination therapies had become the indispensable strategy against this threat. Herein, 11 clinical tigecycline-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae which mainly has mutations in ramR, acrR, or macB were collected for tigecycline ...

Overcoming tet(X)-harboring tigecycline resistance: a study on the efficacy of tigecycline-apramycin combinations. [PDF]
IntroductionThe emergence of the wide variety of novel tigecycline resistance tet(X) variants, including tet(X3), tet(X4), tet(X5), and tet(X6), has raised a serious threat to global public health and posed a significant challenge to the clinical treatment of multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.MethodsIn this study, we evaluated the synergism of ...

Tigecycline therapy for carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) bacteriuria leads to tigecycline resistance [PDF]
Carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (CRKP) is an increasing global threat. Here, we describe the prevalence and impact of tigecycline use in a cohort of patients with CRKP bacteriuria nested within a multicenter, prospective study. In the 21 month study period, 260 unique patients were included. Tigecycline was given to 80 (31%) patients.

Potential of Tetracycline Resistance Proteins To Evolve Tigecycline Resistance [PDF]
ABSTRACT Tigecycline is a glycylcycline antibiotic active against multidrug-resistant bacterial pathogens. The objectives of our study were to examine the potential of the Tet(A), Tet(K), Tet(M), and Tet(X) tetracycline resistance proteins to acquire mutations causing tigecycline resistance and to determine how this affects ...

High tigecycline resistance in multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii [PDF]
Multidrug-resistant (MDR) Acinetobacter baumannii is increasing in our hospital and worldwide, raising the necessity of finding effective therapies. We aimed to evaluate the in vitro activity of tigecycline against MDR A. baumannii clones isolated before tigecycline was used in our institution.Eighty-two unique patient clinical isolates of multidrug ...
