Crystal structure and cellular functions of uPAR dimer
Abstract Receptor dimerization of urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR) was previously identified at protein level and on cell surface. Recently, a dimeric form of mouse uPAR isoform 2 was proposed to induce kidney disease. Here, we report the crystal structure of human uPAR dimer at 2.96 Å.

Novel bi- and trifunctional inhibitors of tumor-associated proteolytic systems [PDF]
Serine proteases, cysteine proteases, and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are involved in cancer cell invasion and metastasis. Recently, a recombinant bifunctional inhibitor (chCysuPA(19-31)) directed against cysteine proteases and the urokinasetype ...

Orientational Preferences of GPI-Anchored Ly6/uPAR Proteins
Ly6/uPAR proteins regulate many essential functions in the nervous and immune systems and epithelium. Most of these proteins contain single β-structural LU domains with three protruding loops and are glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored to a membrane. The GPI-anchor role is currently poorly studied.

Human CYP1B1 is known as a major metabolizer for estrogen and shows tumor‐specific hyper‐expression. To explore the role of CYP1B1 on metastasis of human cancer cells, we studied the effects of CYP1B1 inhibition and activation in MCF‐10A, MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐231, and HeLa cells.

Early increases in plasminogen activator activity following partial hepatectomy in humans [PDF]
Background Increases in urokinase-like plasminogen activator (uPA) activity are reported to be amongst the earliest events occurring in remnant liver following partial hepatectomy in rats, and have been proposed as a key component of the regenerative ...

Protease inhibitors prevent plasminogen-mediated, but not pemphigus vulgaris-induced, acantholysis in human epidermis [PDF]
Pemphigus is an autoimmune blistering disease of the skin and mucous membranes. It is caused by autoantibodies directed against desmosomes, which are the principal adhesion structures between epidermal keratinocytes.

Meningiomas are the most commonly occurring intracranial tumors and account for approximately 15-20% of central nervous system tumors. Surgery and radiation therapy is a common treatment for brain tumors, however, patients whose tumors recur after such treatments have limited therapeutic options.

Abstract Background and Aims The role of suPAR as a biomarker and/or causative factor in the pathogenesis of recurrent FSGS remains unclear (Harel E., et al. Transplantation 2020; 104:54-60). While anti-suPAR antibodies have been shown to block suPAR induced podocyte injury in mouse models of FSGS ...
