Phylogenomic Analysis Supports the Transfer of 20 Pathovars from Xanthomonas campestris into Xanthomonas euvesicatoria

open access: yesTaxonomy, 2023
The Gram-negative bacterial genus Xanthomonas includes numerous infra-specific taxa known as pathovars, which are defined primarily on host range and disease symptoms. With the advent of molecular sequence data, many pathovars have been transferred from X. campestris into other Xanthomonas species to better harmonise taxonomy and phylogeny.

Antibacterial activity of coumarin as an innovative organic control strategy for Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. euvesicatoria

Journal of Plant Diseases and Protection, 2021
Bacterial spot caused by Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. euvesicatoria (Xanteu) is one of the major causes of yield losses in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum (L.) Karsten ex Farw.) crops. The disease is mainly controlled by the use of cupric salts. The increasing demand for a more sustainable agriculture is urging the authorities to pass laws reducing ...

Mapping and characterization of the Rx3 gene for resistance to Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. euvesicatoria race T1 in tomato

Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 2022
Rx3 encodes a typical CC-NBS-LRR resistance protein and confers the resistance to Xanthomonas euvesicatoria pv. euvesicatoria race T1 causing bacterial spot in tomato. Bacterial spot caused by at least four species of Xanthomonas is an epidemic disease severely affecting tomato production worldwide.
