Brain‐Wide Mapping and Synaptic Localization of C1QL3 Using a Novel Epitope‐Tagged Knock‐In Mouse

open access: yesJournal of Comparative Neurology, Volume 534, Issue 8, August 2026.
C1QL3 is a secreted adhesion molecule that acts as a key regulator of synaptic structure and function. We generated and validated a novel epitope‐tagged knock‐in mouse line (C1ql32HA) in which two hemagglutinin (HA) epitopes were inserted near the N‐terminus of the endogenous C1QL3 protein.

ADAMTS4 mediates LPS‐induced cardiac injury and myocardial fibrosis through proteolytic cleavage of TSP1

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
• ADAMTS4 is induced primarily in cardiac fibroblasts during sepsis. • ADAMTS4 cleaves TSP1 at the 236–246 aa functional region. • TSP1 cleavage activates TGF‐β/Smad and NF‐κB signalling in fibroblasts. • Targeting ADAMTS4 reduces fibroblast activation and cardiac fibrosis.

Accurate Prediction of Central Conventional Chondrosarcoma Risk and Outcome Using Methylation Profiling: CHROME

open access: yesGenes, Chromosomes and Cancer, Volume 65, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Chondrosarcomas are malignant cartilage‐forming bone tumors with heterogeneous behavior, making prognostication and clinical management challenging. Histological grading is the primary tool for predicting clinical outcomes in conventional chondrosarcoma.

Keratan Sulfate: An Electroconductive Glycosaminoglycan at the Interface of Sensory Perception and Neural Signaling

open access: yesJournal of Neuroscience Research, Volume 104, Issue 8, August 2026.
Laboratory studies show KS has electroconductive properties with the ability to trap and transport protons in neurotransductive processes (Grotthuss proton shuttling). This maintains electrochemical gradients and fluxes at the neuronal cell surface in neural activation. Such processes are central to neuronal cell signaling and communication.

Tumor Plasticity and Microenvironmental Crosstalk as Drivers of Metastasis and Therapy Resistance

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
The graphical abstract is a schematic illustration of the bidirectional crosstalk between tumor plasticity and the tumor microenvironment (TME) in driving metastasis and therapy resistance. Tumor‐intrinsic factors such as genetic mutations and epigenetic reprogramming enable dynamic transitions between epithelial, mesenchymal, and cancer stem cell ...

SIRT Family: Biological Functions and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 8, August 2026.
SIRT1–SIRT7 networks from transgenic mice to human‑relevant therapeutic targets. SIRT1–SIRT7 form an isoform‑, organ‑, and disease‑specific regulatory network. Transgenic Sirt1–7 mouse models define central regulatory SIRTs (SIRT1, SIRT3, SIRT6), context‑dependent modifiers (SIRT2, SIRT4, SIRT5, SIRT7), and their key mechanisms and target organs. These

Microtubules in Spinal Cord Injury: From Cytoskeletal Dysregulation to Therapeutic Regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Neurochemistry, Volume 170, Issue 8, August 2026.
Graphical illustration of the microtubule interactome following spinal cord injury as potential targets for therapy. ABSTRACT Spinal cord injury (SCI) triggers an immediate and sustained disruption of the composition and organization of the neuronal cytoskeleton.

The Role of Meprins on the Brain Extracellular Matrix and Perineuronal Nets

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 13, 15 July 2026.
Meprin β overexpression is implicated in Alzheimer's Disease. Recent studies identified brevican as a meprin β substrate, and this study demonstrates that meprin α co‐expression enhances meprin β‐mediated brevican cleavage. Further, neurocan and RPTPζ were identified as novel meprin β substrates in an N‐terminomics analysis of meprin β transgenic mice,
