Emollient Formulations and Skin Barrier Practices in the Context of Eczema and Food Allergy Prevention

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The skin is far from a passive shield; it functions as a dynamic “living barrier” whose structural and immunological integrity is paramount in preventing atopic dermatitis (AD) and the subsequent progression of the atopic march toward food allergy (FA).

Prothymosinα, as a neuroprotective DAMPs/Alarmins molecule

open access: yesFolia Pharmacologica Japonica, 2018
Prothymosin alpha (ProTα) has been identified as an anti-necrotic factor from the conditioned medium of primary cultured of rat cortical neurons under the serum-free starving condition. ProTα is released in a non-vesicular manner from neurons or astrocytes by the help of cargo protein S100A13.

Key role of thymic stromal lymphopoietin as a molecular target for biologic treatment of severe asthma

open access: yesFrontiers in Allergy
Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is an alarmin mainly released by airway epithelial cells injured by many environmental noxious agents such as aeroallergens, respiratory viruses, bacteria, airborne pollutants and cigarette smoking.

DataSheet_1_Differential Effects of Alarmins on Human and Mouse Basophils.docx

open access: yes, 2022
Epithelial-derived alarmins (IL-33, TSLP, and IL-25) play an upstream role in the pathogenesis of asthma. Basophil-derived cytokines are a pivotal component of allergic inflammation.

Contact sensitisers activate keratinocytes and induce cytotoxicity via Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 in allergic contact dermatitis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background and Purpose Allergic contact dermatitis (ACD) is a frequent inflammatory skin disease with limited therapeutic options. While neuronal Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) has been implicated in ACD, the role of keratinocyte TRPA1 remains unclear.

The last step to achieve barrier damage control

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
Heterogeneity characterises inflammatory diseases and different phenotypes and endotypes have been identified. Both innate and adaptive immunity contribute to the immunopathological mechanism of these diseases and barrier damage plays a prominent role ...

Gasdermin‐Mediated Pyroptosis: Novel Strategies Against Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
Pyroptosis is a double‐edged sword in colorectal cancer (CRC): chronic low‐grade pyroptosis promotes tumor progression, whereas acute induction of pyroptosis in cancer cells triggers antitumor immunity and enhances therapeutic response. Targeting gasdermin‐mediated pyroptosis represents a promising strategy for CRC treatment.

Impact of Biologics on Oscillometry Defined Small Airway Dysfunction in Uncontrolled Asthma

open access: yesClinical &Experimental Allergy, EarlyView.
Forced oscillometry technique defined small airways dysfunction as a treatable trait in asthma. Monoclonal antibodies can improve small airways dysfunction, but their effects vary by mechanism of action. ABSTRACT Small airways dysfunction (SAD) is a recognised treatable trait within severe asthma, associated with worse symptom control and increased ...
