Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Amino acid requirements of the infant: the amino acid composition of human breast milk

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
The recommended amino acid requirements of the infant are based on the amino acid composition of mature human breast milk. The amino acid composition of breast milk is usually determined following either acid or alkaline (for tryptophan) hydrolysis.

Effect of freeze-dried pasture herbage on ileal digestibility of amino acids and fatty acids in chickens

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2018
The ileal digestibility of amino acids and fatty acids in young chickens fed control diet or experimental diets supplemented with freeze-dried pasture herbage at 20 or 40 g/kg was studied.

Utilization of ileal digestible amino acids by pigs: Lysine [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Nutrition, 1990
Two experiments were conducted to determine the utilization of ileal digestible lysine by pigs. In the first, the apparent ileal digestibility of amino acids in cottonseed meal, meat-and-bone meal and soya-bean meal was determined in pigs fitted with‘T'-shaped cannulas.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Composition of Metabolic Energy Value and Amino Acid Digestibility of Wheat, Wheat Screening and Barley Between Ileum and Faces of Broiler Chicken

open access: yesThe Journal of Poultry Science, 2009
A broiler chick bioassay was carried out with forty eight 21-day-old Arian-broiler chickens to study the effect of site sampling on metabolizable energy (ME) and amino acid digestibility.

True metabolizable energy and amino acid digestibility in black soldier fly larvae meals, cricket meal, and mealworms using a precision-fed rooster assay

open access: yesPoultry Science, 2021
: Six precision-fed rooster assays were conducted to determine nutrient composition, nitrogen-corrected true metabolizable energy (TMEn) and standardized amino acid digestibility for three black soldier fly larvae meals (BSFL), one partially-defatted ...

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Digestible indispensable amino acid score (DIAAS): 10 years on

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
The objective of the review is to revisit the findings of the 2011 Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Expert Consultation on Dietary Protein Quality Evaluation in Human Nutrition, and to report on progress on uptake of the ...
