Use of Solid Dispersion Systems in Pharmacy
An overview of the use of solid dispersion systems in pharmacy is presented. The main techniques of obtaining solid dispersions were considered. The simplest one is the solvent removal technique: the medicinal drug and the carrier are dissolved in the ...

Superiority of Mesoporous Silica-Based Amorphous Formulations over Spray-Dried Solid Dispersions
The aim of this study was to compare the performance of two amorphous formulation strategies: mesoporous silica via solvent impregnation, and solid dispersions by spray drying. Poorly soluble fenofibrate was chosen as the model drug compound.

Spray drying formulation of amorphous solid dispersions
Spray drying is a well-established manufacturing technique which can be used to formulate amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) which is an effective strategy to deliver poorly water soluble drugs (PWSDs). However, the inherently complex nature of the spray drying process coupled with specific characteristics of ASDs makes it an interesting area to ...

Fenretinide (4-HPR), a retinoid derivative, has shown high antitumor activity, a low toxicological profile, and no induction of resistance. Despite these favorable features, the variability in oral absorption due to its low solubility combined with the high hepatic first pass effect strongly reduce clinical outcomes.

ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Enhancing delivery of poorly water-soluble drugs by innovative amorphous solid dispersions
Poorly water-soluble drugs continue to dominate today’s drug development pipelines, and thus a multitude of technologies and solubility-enhancing methodologies have been commercialized to address this issue. One-such methodology to enhance the solubility

The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Pharmaceutical amorphous solid dispersion: A review of manufacturing strategies
Amorphous solid dispersions (ASDs) are popular for enhancing the solubility and bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs. Various approaches have been employed to produce ASDs and novel techniques are emerging. This review provides an updated overview of manufacturing techniques for preparing ASDs.
