In this study we assess the functional role of Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) in the skeletal muscle by analyzing whether physical activity modulates AQP4 expression and whether the absence of AQP4 has an effect on osmotic behavior, muscle contractile properties ...

Effects of erythropoietin and methylprednisolone on AQP4 expression in astrocytes
Methylprednisolone sodium succinate (MPSS) has been suggested as a treatment for spinal cord injury (SCI), but its use has been limited due to its adverse effects. Erythropoietin (EPO) has been suggested as a promising candidate for limiting SCI in mammals.

ABSTRACT Background The diffusion tensor image analysis along the perivascular space (DTI‐ALPS) index is an established term, and ongoing research aims to explore underlying mechanisms. Hypothesis DTI‐ALPS measures are influenced by subject‐specific orientational differences of the projection and association fibers. Study Type Prospective.

Personalized Treatment of Patients With Multiple Sclerosis: A Case Report and Literature Review
ABSTRACT Managing multiple sclerosis (MS) with a highly active disease course presents significant challenges, particularly regarding the timing of therapeutic escalation and the preservation of brain volume. We present a personalized management strategy for a 36‐year‐old male with relapsing‐remitting MS (RRMS) who experienced initial misdiagnosis ...

With Regard to the Expression Status of Sarcolemmal Aquaporin 4 in Human Muscular Dystrophies
ABSTRACT Human muscular dystrophies are inherited muscle‐wasting diseases caused by the various kinds of gene mutations. Among them, Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a representative type. Before the discovery of the causative dystrophin gene of DMD, the fragile myofiber plasma membrane was thought to be the trigger of myofiber necrosis in DMD ...

AQP4-specific T cells determine lesion localization in the CNS in a model of NMOSD
Neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) is a paradigmatic autoimmune disease of the central nervous system (CNS), in which the water channel protein Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) is targeted by a self-reactive immune response.

Current Cell/Organoid and Animal Models for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a chronic cholestatic liver disease with limited therapeutic options and a marked risk of progression to biliary fibrosis, cirrhosis, and malignancy. Progress in PSC research has been hindered by the lack of models that faithfully recapitulate the complex biliary microenvironment and disease heterogeneity ...

Abstract Purpose Physiological pulsations driven by cardiac, respiratory, and vasomotor activity are essential for solute transport within perivascular and perineural cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pathways that support brain and eye clearance systems. Previous studies have shown that parasympathetic blockade significantly reduces ocular pulsation power and
