Dynamics of Serological and Mucosal Antibody Responses against African Swine Fever Viruses in Experimentally Infected Pigs

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a lethal swine pathogen, and there is no effective vaccine or treatment available for ASFV infection. Recently, the occurrence of ASFV genotype I and genotype II natural mutants that manifest as subacute, longer‐incubation, or persistent infections poses threats to preventing ASFV infection.

Novel method for sub‐grouping of genotype II African swine fever viruses based on the intergenic region between the A179L and A137R genes

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 8, Issue 2, Page 607-609, March 2022., 2022
We report the development of a novel method for sub‐grouping genotype II African swine fever virus based on the intergenic region between the A179L and A137R genes. We have identified an insertion or deletion of an 11‐nucleotide sequence that may help analysis of the evolution and relationships between geographically separated outbreaks.

Development of an ELISA Method to Differentiate Animals Infected with Wild-Type African Swine Fever Viruses and Attenuated HLJ/18-7GD Vaccine Candidate

open access: yesViruses, 2022
African swine fever (ASF) is a highly contagious hemorrhagic disease of pigs, posing a significant threat to the world pig industry. Several researchers are investigating the possibilities for developing a safe and efficient vaccine against ASF.

Protection Evaluation of a New Attenuated ASFV by Deletion of the L60L and CD2v Genes against Homologous Challenge. [PDF]

open access: yesViruses
African swine fever (ASF) is an acute infectious disease with a high mortality rate in both domestic and wild boars. Commercial vaccines or antiviral drugs for ASF were not available due to the complex diversity of the structure and genome of its pathogen African swine fever virus (ASFV).

African swine fever vaccine: Turning a dream into reality

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 68, Issue 5, Page 2657-2668, September 2021., 2021
Abstract African swine fever (ASF) is currently threatening the swine industry at a global level. The disease originated in Africa has spread to Europe, Asia and Oceania, since 2007, reaching a pandemic dimension. Currently, the spread of ASF is unstoppable and that the development of a safe and effective vaccine is urgently required.

African Swine Fever Virus CD2v protein promotes β-Interferon expression and apoptosis in swine cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
ABSTRACTAfrican swine fever (ASF) is a disease of swine characterized by massive lymphocyte depletion in lymphatic tissues due to apoptosis of B and T cells, most likely triggered by proteins or factors secreted by infected adjacent macrophages. Here we describe a role for the ASF virus (ASFV) protein CD2v in apoptosis induction in lymphocytes. CD2v is

Rapid emergence of African swine fever virus variants with different numbers of a tandem repeat sequence in South Korea

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 68, Issue 4, Page 1726-1730, July 2021., 2021
Abstract African swine fever virus variants with different numbers of a 10‐bp tandem repeat were isolated in South Korea soon after being identified in wild boar. The short emergence periods and sympatric distributions within a narrow geographical region suggest that the variants were sporadically generated in the pre‐existing viral population.

Rapid Identification for Serotyping of African Swine Fever Virus Based on the Short Fragment of the EP402R Gene Encoding for CD2-Like Protein

open access: yesActa Veterinaria, 2021
The first confirmed case of African swine fever (ASF) in Vietnam was officially reported in February 2019. To date, the ASF virus (ASFV) has been detected in all 63 cities/provinces in Vietnam. In order to get a better understanding of the potential role

African swine fever virus CD2v and C-type lectin gene loci mediate serological specificity

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 2015
African swine fever (ASF) is an emerging disease threat for the swine industry worldwide. No ASF vaccine is available and progress is hindered by lack of knowledge concerning the extent of ASF virus (ASFV) strain diversity and the viral antigens responsible for protection in the pig.

The Development of a Multiplex Real-Time Quantitative PCR Assay for the Differential Detection of the Wild-Type Strain and the MGF505-2R, EP402R and I177L Gene-Deleted Strain of the African Swine Fever Virus

open access: yesAnimals, 2022
African swine fever virus (ASFV) causes African swine fever (ASF), a devastating hemorrhagic disease of domestic pigs and wild boars. Currently, the MGF505R, EP402R (CD2v) and I177L gene-deleted ASFV strains were confirmed to be the ideal vaccine ...
